The Poltergeist curse is an urban legend type of rumor that's been attached for years to the Poltergeist movies series and its stars.
The idea that the cast of the movies was in some way "cursed" is a superstition based on these facts: five of the stars on these movies died deaths that can be characterized by the credulous as mysterious or tragic.

I have seen this sequel to "Poltergeist" many times and have always enjoyed it as much as I did the first movie.
The sequel is written and produced by "Mark Victor" and "Michael Grais" who co-wrote the original with "Steven Spielberg" and follows the doomed Freeling family four years after the original classic left off...
I have always regarded "Poltergeist II" as a worthy follow up with it's flaws (which it is) and can still not understand how this movie made it's way from a running time of "130" minutes down to a mere "91".

I realize their is always debate among fans if it was Steven Spielberg or Tobe Hopper that is most reponsible for “Poltergeist“… all I have to say to that is “who cares?” Their collaboration made for a great film and it’s a shame we haven’t seen them tackle more projects together.
Between “Texas Chainsaw Massacre“, “Poltergeist” and “Lifeforce“… Tober Hooper is a name in horror cinema history that won’t soon be forgotten.

Poltergeist is a movie that I like to watch at least several times in any given year.
Poltergeist 2 is a movie that I like to pretend never happened, and as far as I'm concerned, when I'm watching the first film, it didn't.
By any stretch of the imagination, POLTERGEIST, released in the summer of 1982, was one of the few horror films released in the Eighties that had any business being referred to as a masterpiece of its genre.

Poltergeist III however is AWFUL (nothing more then a complete disgrace to the first two).
Actually she died whilst on a break in shooting and was replaced with a blonde stand-in, and the ending was re-written to exclude her character.
It's on TCM on SKY all the time though as is the infamous "Poltergeist Curse" documentary on E! I think for first time viewers of the Poltergeist films showing II first is always the confusing option I think.
