In the past the four heads of divisions were appointed by the Director; now they are elected by members of the department, subsequent to the adoption of a more open, transparent operation demanded by young researchers who have recently joined the Institute after their doctoral studies abroad.
Scholars in Taiwan also face another associated problem of ‘identity crisis’: if they choose to ‘localise’ their studies, then a question is likely to arise as to whether they should ‘Taiwanise’ or maintain the claim that Taiwan is a part of a ‘Great China’ and then look at things from a Chinese perspective.
However, "the two current godfathers of IR theorising in Taiwan" are Professor Lin Bih-jaw of the Department of Diplomacy at the National Chengchi University and Professor Tsai Cheng-wen of the Department of Political Science at the National Taiwan University (interview in Taipei, 21 January 1999).

The conflict between Serbs and Albanians is an ethnic one, I totally agree.Albanians and Serbs faught again (and along) each other even before Serbs were orthodox and the Kosovo part of Albania were muslim.That is something that most of the Americans or West Europeans can not understand.
Anyway, the conflict need to be solved and I think that division among ethnic lines is the best solution to that, parts of north going to Serbia and the rest joining Albania.
If you want, it dates back to the Balkan wars, where the divisions between Southern Slavs of different blend (Serbia/Bulgaria) as well as between Slavs and Albanians were engraved in the minds of people.

This class will focus on various political economic factors that gave rise to Japan' rise and fall of its post-war economy and will be one of the main portions of the seminar.
In Japan, such serious divisions seemed to be minimal or at least not visible to outsiders whereas in Korea these tensions take on immediate visibility such as the Kwangju Rebellion.
The closest phenomenon in Japan seems to be the Soka Gakkai Movement, but it is Buddhist in origin and stresses pacificism and the power of the individual to cause social change.

I see a serious shift in western political culture, and it won't have as much to do with the fruits of victory over jihadism as it will over a drastic reassessment and realignment of our own poltical movements.
Its a shame that the two great divisions of political thought reflected in blue states and red states can't collaborate to contest the war against terror.
