Polyrhythm - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A simple example of a polyrhythm is 3 evenly-spaced notes against 2, with the 3-beat pattern being faster than the 2-beat pattern, so that they both take the same amount of time.
Other simple polyrhythms are 3:4, 4:3, 5:4, 7:4, etc. Another form of polyrhythm, which might also be termed polymeter, would be phrasing to suggest a different meter than the one being played by the rest of the ensemble.
A common example of this in jazz would be phrasing quarter notes in groupings of 3 to suggest 3/4 time while the ensemble plays in 4/4.

However, savannah differs from polymeter center in having “pre-established frame work.” Savannah is built on the “pre-established frame work.” The city starts with the defining whole shape first.
On the other hand, polymeter center combines already built buildings throughout history and defines them as one area.

I think technically what is happening IS a polymeter, but the effect becomes metric modulation.
As gnhrtg points out, when you stop audibly referring to the dominant rhythmic pulse and only accent the subdivided rhythms, it creates something different than simple syncopation.

I produced the whole of this album(TRIANGLEMETRE) on the computer, in the musical measure of the triangle – the triangle-meter.
I established the musical measure of the triangle by the alternation of several (2 or 3) different measures (polymeter – poly [several] and metron [measure]).
This was done according to the horizontal poly-meter, where changes of measure follow one after another (in the ratio of each dimension of the triangle): A/n + B/n + C/n.

AT THE SAME TIME, with his RIGHT side he is playing a groove in 4/4 on top of the left side ostinato, creating a 10:4 polyrhythm.
That's an example of compound/dual time signatures, which in turn, creates a polymeter- not to be confused with the term "polyrhythm."
So that is what a polymeter is. If you count 1eandah2eandah3e over the course of 2 bars of 4/4 the rhythm will repeat on the third bar.

The polymeter shows the same pattern as the polyrhythm :\
there's no real differennce between polymeter and polyrhythm...
Actually, Polymeter means more than one meter, as in more than one time signature...but really it is all VERY related because you could describe a polymetric riff as polyrhythmic, but the polyrhythm would be whole notes, since a whole note is one bar....
