Nunavut is both the least populated and the largest of the provinces and territorities of Canada.

Spending time in Pond Inlet really gave us a chance to see what the community needs most, how we can better tailor our program to meet these needs and also gave us a greater understanding of the Inuit culture.
As the project develops and QMO continues to visit Pond Inlet year after year, I think a trusting relationship will develop and our education programs will be more effective.

POND INLET, Nunavut (January 10, 2001) - Public Works and Services Minister Manitok Thompson is in Pond Inlet today to officially open the new Government of Nunavut office building for decentralized positions.
Minister Thompson is co-hosting the opening ceremonies along with Jobie Nuturak, MLA for Tunnuniq, and the community of Pond Inlet.
To date, 25 positions within Public Works and Services and Sustainable Development have been relocated to Pond Inlet, with further positions scheduled to relocate during the next phase of decentralization.

June 25th, 1:00am (Pond Inlet) I am sitting here in Pond Inlet in the wee hours of the morning.
A giant tabular iceberg had appeared on the horizon overnight and was slowly making its way past the floe edge with the north to south current that will eventually take the berg all the way down the Labrador coast.
The Premier said hello to each member of our Students on Ice team, and he graciously welcomed us to Nunavut, asked the students about their expedition, where they all came from, and invited us all back one day.

We are at the Airport in Pond Inlet - our plane is on the tarmac, our bags are packed, we’re ready to go...
we will be flying to Iqaluit - where we will have a couple of hours - to shop, perhaps visit the legislature for Nunavut etc. Everyone is great - we’re happy and also feeling some sadness within as we contemplate the end of our journey.
We know our friendships are strong and that we will carry them with us and all we have learned into the next steps of our lives.
