Kingpetch came into the fight in Tokyo as the favorite but was smothered from the opening round and forced to the ropes from the outset where Harada worked him over.
Pone could never get his jab going and it was never the factor everyone expected it to be, Harada gave Pone what can only be described as a beating and Pone surcame to the punishment in the 11th round.
Kingpetch died of Pneumonia in Bangkok in 1982 at the age of 46.

Kingpetch, born Mana Sridokbuab in Huahin, Thailiand, was such a popular boxer, even so much that the King of Thailand attended one of his professional bouts in person.
It helped Kingpetch that Vithichai was apparently sleeping on his laurels after their last bout, something that later seemed to become an epidemic among Kingpetch's opponents.
Kingpetch has a statue of him in a park that was named after him in his native Huahin.

Kingpetch helped put Thailand on the boxing map when he arrived on the boxing scene in the 50's.
He was able to use his tall and lanky frame to his advantage by jabbing and keeping his more powerful foes at a distance.
Kingpetch could be hurt when he was hit hard, so it was to his benefit to stay on the outside and outpoint his opponents.

Edmundo Esparza upset Harada by decision in June of 1962 to end his win streak but two fights later on October 10th he was in a Tokyo ring facing world flyweight champion Pone Kingpetch.
The champion was unable to keep the swarming Harada off of him and he finally lost his title in the eleventh round.
Kingpetch lured Harada to his home country of Thailand and on January 12th, 1963 in Bangkok, Pone regained his title by decision.

As I began to follow this great sport, Japan's " Fighting " Harada was already becoming a legend.
He had won and then lost the World's Flyweight championship to Pone Kingpetch.
He then moved up to bantamweight and dethroned the seemingly unbeatable Eder Jofre to win that title.

Harada, who turned pro when he was 16, won his first 25 bouts.
At age 19, he won the world flyweight title from the legendary Thai champion Pone Kingpetch in Oct. 1962 via 11th-round kayo, but lost the belt three months later in a return bout by a 15-round decision.
Harada then moved up to 118 pounds, where he won 11 of 12 fights, his lone loss being a sixth round TKO to Joe Medel that he later avenged.

Some of the Thai's I mentioned have been "real champions" and are considered so by the boxing community.
Some of the Thai's I named are considered to be great boxers - ie; Galaxy, Chitlada, Kingpetch....
I do both (actually all 3) and i have found out that boxing is 10 times the political circus that Muay Thai is. If youdon't have a big name in your corner (trainer, manager) etc then they willtry to use you for fodder fo their "up and Coming"n boxers.

There are only about six Kingpetch fights widely available.I managed to get them all at once a few years ago.
He's one of the few three-time champions that you can say that about.
