Topic: Pop 100 Airplay

Pop 100 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Pop 100 is a songs chart created in February 2005 and released weekly by Billboard magazine in the United States.
Many complained that the Hot 100 was biased against non-rhythmic songs, making it difficult for a pop, rock, or country song to reach the top ten.
To illustrate another extreme, at the time the Pop 100 was first published, only one country act in the previous 20 years had reached #1 on the Hot 100 (Lonestar in 2000 with "Amazed").

A new chart, the Pop 100 has been created to answer criticism that the Hot 100 was biased in favor of Rhythmic songs.
Billboard's Hot 100 chart policies have been modified many times over the years to accommodate changes in the record industry, but one rule always remained constant: songs were not eligible to enter the Hot 100 unless they were available to purchase as a single.
As of the Hot 100 chart dated February 12, 2005, Billboard introduced the Pop 100 Chart and the Pop 100 Airplay Chart.

Top 40 Mainstream - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Top 40 Mainstream (often also called Mainstream Top 40) is an airplay chart from Billboard Magazine.
It is often mistaken and confused with the Pop 100 Airplay charts.
Whereas the Top 40 Mainstream charts and Pop 100 Airplay both measure the airplay of songs played on Mainstream stations playing pop-oriented music, the Pop 100 Airplay (like the Hot 100 Airplay) measures airplay based on statistical impressions, while the Top 40 Mainstream uses The Number Of Total Detections.

Mario adds another Billboard No. 1   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
Making its debut this week, the chart bows alongside Billboard's Pop 100, both aimed to track songs that have become mass-appeal mainstream hits.
Among the things to note about this week's Hot 100 are that the "last week" rank on the chart reflects the list's new formula, rather than the ranks published under the old methodology.
As it is also the Hot Digital Songs king for the fifth week, the track is one of the singles to benefit from the infusion of digital sales to the Hot 100 mix.

With Mariah relinquishing the #1 spot on Hot 100 Airplay to Kanye this week it would seem virtually impossible for her to challenge him for the #1 spot on the Hot 100 in the coming weeks.
On the Pop 100 the story remains the same as Mariah is unable to claim the #1 spot.
While Mariah was unable to replace herself atop the Hot 100 she did achieve this on the Hot 100 Airplay chart, the second time in her career.
