Poplar and Canning Town is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
The seat has existed since 1997, and covers (as the name suggests) Poplar and Canning Town, as well as Limehouse and the Isle of Dogs.

Orpington (UK Parliament constituency) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
The constituency is located in the London Borough of Bromley, forming the southeastern limits of Greater London and including the urban areas of Orpington, St Mary Cray, most of St Paul's Cray, Farnborough, and Chelsfield and extending through the countryside to Biggin Hill.
The seats of Dartford and Chislehurst had both seen their electorate grow enormously since the last review and as an interim measure were divided into four, creating the additional seats of Bexley and Orpington.
In 1962, a by-election was held in the constituency which saw a Liberal gain from Conservative.

Important towns in the rural South of the constituency are the county town of Dolgellau and the anglicised (and slightly run down) resort of Barmouth.
The town is an important office and retail centre for north-east London and Essex and boasts one of the largest open air markets in the country: in 2000, when the local council refused to fly the Union Jack from the Town Hall, virtually all the market traders flew the flag from their stalls in protest.
