 ALS TDF
The effect of local tissue injection of activated carbon particle adsorbing aclacinomycin A (ACR-CH) on the cytotoxicity in popliteal, inguinal, paraaortic, and axillary lymph nodes was investigated in mice.
These effects were found in popliteal, inguinal, and paraaortic lymph nodal effector cells but not in the more remote axillary nodes.
Potentially ACR-CH may enhance immune responsiveness of regional lymph nodes after subcutaneous administration while concomitantly curtailing neoplastic growth in these same lymph nodes.

RĂ¼diger Friedrich Wolf, PhDThesis, FU Berlin
Lymph nodes were taken bilaterally from submandibular, deep cervical, lumbar paraaortic, inguinofemoral and popliteal sites in 38 Sprague-Dawley rats after CCII.
Red blood cells are visible in the marginal sinus of the cervical lymph nodes (consisting of superficial and deep nodes) as soon as 10 min after brain injury.
Both physiological and non-physiological studies have demonstrated the existence of CSF-drainage from the subarachnoid space into the deep cervical lymph nodes in the rat.

The surgeon injected lymphazurin dye and used an intraoperative gamma probe to aid in the indentification of the popliteal and inguinal lymph nodes.
The popularity of lymphoscintigraphy in patients with melanoma also stems from the concept of the sentinel node, which is defined as that lymph node in a given lymphatic chain that is the first to receive lymphatic flow from a primary tumor site.
The sentinel inguinal lymph node was found to be positive for metastatic malignant melanoma.

Popliteal nodes receive superficial lymph vessels from the lateral side of the leg and foot (the area drained by the small saphenous vein) and from deep lymph vessels accompanying the anterior and posterior tibial arteries.
The lymphatic drainage of the leg and foot is to popliteal nodes, the vertical group of superficial inguinal nodes, and deep inguinal nodes.
The two sets of veins are connected by valved perforating veins, 80 that (ideally) blood flows from superficial to deep veins and moves toward the heart mainly in deep veins.

The lymphatic vessels along the great saphenous vein drain into the superficial inguinal lymph nodes; those along the small saphenous vein drain into the popliteal lymph nodes.
The superficial lymphaytic vessels accompany the saphenous veins and their triubutaries in the superficial fascia.

Swollen glands, swollen lymph nodes, and cervical adenopathy - New Treatments, January 22, 2005
Distinctly uncommon are palpable postauricular, supraclavicular, epitrochlear, or popliteal nodes, swollen lymph nodes.
Often the cause of the adenopathy is obvious, such as with lymph glands draining an obvious source of infection.
Malignancy is suggested by painless adenopathy in the posterior or lower cervical chains, particularly in older children.

When young (6-week-old) BALB/c and also young C57BL/6 mice were inoculated into footpads with spleen cells from normal, syngeneic, aged donors, their response to the inoculum resulted in the enlargement of popliteal lymph nodes (PLN).
Autostimulatory lymphoid cells in aging mice: induction of syngeneic host-versus-graft reaction by radioresistant adherent cells in normal recipients.
