Child pornography   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-17)
The term child pornography (sometimes referred to as kiddie porn) generally refers to pornography featuring a child; however, the precise definition of "pornography" and "child" varies by region and country.
It has been suggested that the consumption of child pornography causes pedophilia and lowers the threshold of a person's willingness to engage in sex with a child, and in the case of the additional crime of showing the images to a child, persuade the child into engaging in sexual activity with an adult.
In other countries, most significantly the United States, it is legal; written child pornography is legally protected by the US Constitution as long as it is not judged obscene.

Proponents of such statutes contend that pornography is a form of sex discrimination because it reinforces an inferior image of women and thus harms women's status.
They argue that pornography also leads to physical abuse of women, by increasing male aggression towards them; also that actresses and models are often physically and psychologically abused in the actual production of pornographic movies and photographs, typically by being coerced into sex.
The model law has been considered in numerous locales around the country, but when it was adopted by the Indianapolis City Council in 1984 it collapsed under a legal challenge brought by a coalition of booksellers and publishers and supported by the ACLU as a friend-of-the-court.

Internet pornography - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While pornography had been traded over the internet via individuals in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, it was the invention of the World Wide Web in 1993 as well as the opening of the internet to the general public around the same time that led to an explosion in pornography over the internet.
While internet pornography had seen limited non-commercial distribution over the internet in the 1980’s, it was not until the internet became more accessible to the general public that internet pornography really took off.
Prior to the rise of commercial porn on the internet, distribution of pornography was largely internet users uploading scanned photos from adult magazines or other sources, to Usenet newsgroups which provided a great deal of anonymity, and easy means to easy circumvention copyright restrictions.

IPT Journal - "Revisiting Country Walk"
Country Walk is remembered largely because for several years, it was the only case in which the children's stories were backed by the seemingly "hard" evidence of the Fuster child's positive gonorrhea test, and more importantly, by Ileana Fuster's confession.
Further, in a case like Country Walk, there may be nothing more harmful than an investigator who uses bad techniques when interviewing small children; particularly when ignoring factors in the children's families and communities that may be influencing or pressuring them to make untrue statements.
It is possible that the index child in the Country Walk case was reporting this type of behavior, and that his parents' ignorance of rural Latin American childrearing practices led them to misinterpret Ileana's behavior.
