Missing the next round of the Nürburgring 1000km to develop the car further, the 956 would reappear at the 24 hours of Le Mans with a three car team which led the race all till the end with Ickx and Bell winning their third race together and defending their crown.
In 1984 because of an IMSA regulation banning cars with accelarator pedal mounted in front of the axle entering, forcing privateers to either mount a Porsche engine into a March chassis or continue to race the 935, Porsche introduced the 962.
IMSA did not have the fuel restriction formula which the FIA had on Group C. The 962 made its debut at the Daytona 24 Hours with the factory entry of the Andretti father and son duo.

This last name was given because of the need to modify the chassis due to a regulation’s change that made the cars move backwards the position of the pilot until his feet lay behind the front axe line.
The first car presented was the Porsche 956/962 that surprised the enthusiast attending for not being an actual car, but completely satisfied the most for being a mythic car and in my opinion a really beautiful one.

The Porsche 956 was the most successful sports prototype racing car ever built, but for the US-based IMSA series the officials deemed it illegal, objecting mainly to the fact that the driver?s feet were placed ahead of the front axle line.
Porsche built a great many of these cars -- 962-001 through 962C-016 were works chassis and 962-101 through 962C-177 were customer 962's, so there were literally more than a hundred liveries or variants of liveries that could be reproduced.

i was flipin thru pages on porsches site acutally other day, ya know, what porsche fans do when they dont wana take their baby out for a cruise...which is only when theres too much traffic or ur too tired, cuz its a blast to drive.
In 84 porsche had realised their huge success, and what was to come, and decided to take a similar car to the United States to blitz the IMSA racing series.

For those of you who might remember my review of the regular edition Kenwood Porsche 956 from last year you will no doubt recall a couple of issues I had with the car.
The dash is painted with tiny knobs and gauges, the safety equipment such as the drivers helmet and passenger side belts have tampo-printed graphics on them and the racing harness buckle in the passenger side has to be one of the finest detail pieces I have seen yet.
It is however very loose in its habits and in stock form the back end slides out with minimal effort requiring you to know exactly where to get on the throttle or know where to begin breaking for a corner.
