On 22 November 2004 Seychelles deposited with the Director-General of UNESCO its instrument of accession to the Convention on Wetlands, as amended by the Paris Protocol (1982) and Regina Amendments (1987), and the Convention will enter into force for this small group of islands off the eastern coast of Africa on 22 March 2005.
The coastal area provides ideal habitat for spawning, nursery, feeding and cover for fish, and the Seychelles endemic Goujon (Pachypanchax playfairii) and the freshwater fish Macanbale (Ophiocara porocephala) are present in the streams.

The agreement for the Ephelia Resort, scheduled to be completed by October 2007, was signed in May this year by the Ministry of Land Use and Habitat, Seychelles Investment Bureau and the developers, Port-Launay Resorts Ltd, owned by Le Refuge Du Pecheur.
At the time of $100 million, 70-year lease signing, representatives of the developers said that the resort would comprise around 200 suites, have 600 staff and is hoped to welcome 14,000 clients per year.
Stretching from the beach at Port Launay, south to the northern beach of Port Glaud, the hotel will be home to seven main swimming pools, a "wellness sanctuary", four restaurants, four bars, tennis courts, squash courts, mini golf, a conference centre, cinema and dive centre.

As he re-united with Anse Boileau, former SHA secretary Riage has brought with him sisters Anne and Annette Henriette from Port Glaud and has said that two-time defending League champions Anse Boileau will be back to their best and will reclaim the Knockout title they lost to Anse Royale last year.

The La Misere Potao and Port Glaud Moorhen Wildlife Clubs met up last week for a nature walk that followed the Port Glaud River from source to sea.
