Most Americans remember Gdansk as the Polish shipbuilding city that gave birth to the Solidarity movement.
But the Baltic port has a rich and deep history, and this summer the city celebrated its millennium.

The new ferry, "Scandinavia", is able to take aboard up to 1,800 passengers and 515 passenger cars or 175 passenger cars and 36 lorries.
