 IDN Portal - What is the IDN?
The CEOS IDN provides free, on-line access to information on worldwide scientific data in the Earth sciences: geoscience, hydrospheric, biospheric, satellite remote sensing, and atmospheric sciences.
The CEOS IDN is sponsored by the Technology and Services Subgroup of the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) as a service to both the Earth and space science communities.
There are five coordinating nodes of the CEOS IDN for the Asian, American, European, and African continents, and another coordinating node for those countries participating in Antarctic research.

 The Pluto Portal
Richard P. Binzel, a Professor of Planetary Science in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, is one of the world's leading astronomers studying Pluto and the asteroids.
Binzel was honored wtih a Presidential Young Investigator award from George H. Bush in 1990 and most recently was named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in recognition of his work on Pluto and on the asteroids.
Binzel, who published his first scientific paper at the age of 15, completed his Bachelor's degree in physics at Macalester College (St. Paul, MN) and received his Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Texas.

 UNESCO Natural Sciences Portal
Director of the Department of Natural Sciences at UNESCO between 1959-1964 Victor Kovda played a decisive role in the development of UNESCO's environmental programmes and was the initiator and director of the Soil Map of the World, and international project of the FAO and UNESCO.
Between 1922 and 1942, he was first Doctor ès Science, then Assistant to become finally Professor of Physics at the Sorbonne (1937), where he devoted his professional life to experimental physics in the fields of Atomic physics (photoelectric effect), Nuclear physics (slow neutrons) and Cosmic ray physics (atmospheric air-showers).
Pierre Auger is also the author of many scientific works on x-rays, neutrons and cosmic rays.

 Arctic Climate Change
This website is a portal to recent research related to Arctic climate and climate change at the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Illinois.
We provide Arctic temperature trends and changes of other primary surface variables (e.g., sea level pressure, precipitation, sea ice cover) archived in this climate summary, portions of which are published each year in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.
Our work on the IPCC report is an extension to our recent work on the Arctic Climate Impact Assessment report and past work identifying a fingerprint of enhanced greenhouse warming in the Arctic (left).
