CLARK township is the middle one of the five northern townships, touching Holmes county on the north, Mill Creek township on the east, Bethlehem on the south, and Monroe on the west.
It is in the southern tier of townships, and touches Jackson, Tuscarawas and Lafayette townships on the north; Linton on the east, and Virginia on the west; Muskingum county bounds it on the south.

The township is bounded on the north by Beaver township, on the east by Rose and Oliver, on the south by Porter, and on the west by Armstrong county.
Martin H. Shannon is a resident of Brookville; Daniel Shannon, their father, settled in Armstrong county, in 1823, from where removed to Beaver township, in 1848, and resided there until 1861, when he went to reside with his son, Philip H. Shannon, at Brookville, where he died in the ninety-first year of his age.
RINGGOLD, the eigtheenth (sic) township, was organized in 1848, being taken from Porter township.

 Crumrine - Cross Creek Twp.
The township of Cross Creek retained its original territory and limits until May, 1806, when a portion of it was taken to form the township of Mount Pleasant; and in 1853 the township of Jefferson was formed from the western part of Cross Creek, reducing the township to its present limits.
Robert Patterson, of Smith township, presided at that meeting, and the law was adopted by all the townships in the county, with five exceptions.
Cross Creek township was a separate justice's district from its erection in 1790 till the erection of election districts, May 4, 1803, when it became embraced with other territory in District No. 3, and so remained till 1838, when the office of justice became elective, and the township an independent district.

Her father, John Potts, a veteran of the Revolutionary war, was born in Westmoreland county, and lived for some time in Porter township, Jefferson county, afterward coming to Red Bank township, this county, where he engaged in farming.
JERRY T. SMITH, a farmer of Red Bank township, Armstrong county, was born Oct. 7, 1881, on the place he now occupies, son of the late George J. Smith.
His tract of 145 acres was one of the most valuable farms in the township, not only well improved on the surface, but underlaid with coal, limestone, and firebrick clay.
