In 1858, as chairman of the township board, he became a member, ex officio, of the county board of supervisors, and was elected one of the first county commissioners under the present law in 1859.
The remaining post-offices of the county are Oak Grove and Harrison-the latter a railroad town on the Kansas Central, and on the banks of the Big Blue, in Greene Township; Leghorn and Arispie, in Sherman Township; Vienna, in Vienna Township; St. Clere, in St. Clere Township; Laclede, in Union Township.
In 1864, settled in Belvue Township and engaged in farming.

It is bounded on the east by Porter, on the south by the Centre county line and Beech Creek, (from which it derived its name), on the west by Centre county, on the north by Chapman, Grugan and Bald Eagle townships.
That portion of the present township bordering on the Bald Eagle creek was probably first examined with a view to its settlement at the same time the "officers" made their selections, for their "survey" extends along the west side of the Bald Eagle, entirely across the township as it now exists.
The population of the township in 1870 was 950.

In 1872, he was elected county judge of Johnson county, and served for 10 consecutive years in that office, declining to longer serve, on account of the labor of the office, and his advanced age.

A stormwater management plan is generated within a watershed in order to comply with the Stormwater Management Act of 1978 (Act 167), which requires each county in Pennsylvania to prepare and adopt a stormwater management plan for each designated watershed in the county.
In Clinton County, the Conservation District has been the lead agency responsible for preparing the two stormwater management plans now in effect for our county; while other county government offices are participating organizations.
The Fishing Creek/Cedar Run Watershed is Clinton County's second stormwater management plan; the first one was Chathum Run.
