FRED W. HOEFER, city marshal of Appleton, Wisconsin, who has been connected with this branch of the public service since 1877, was born in Dodge county, Wisconsin, October 1, 1847, and is a son of Thomas and Philipina (Knester) Hoefer, natives of Germany, who came to Wisconsin in 1841.
Mueller was married to Caroline Lillge, daughter of Otto and Freda Lillge, and granddaughter of one of the earliest settlers of Outagamie county.

Some time ago Miss Julia A. Lapham of Oconomowoc, Wis., sent to the Sauk County Historical society the field notes made by her father, Increase A. Lapham, when he traveled through the Dells and Sauk county from October 22 to November 1,1849.
Lapham was the author of the first history of Wisconsin and a number of works of a scientific nature.
They are said to extend eastward to the Wisconsin at the ferry and west to an unknown distance.

 Minneapolis, MN - Building Environmental Community - Sierra Club
The speakers' presentations were followed by a question and answer session that drew excellent participation from the attendees.  The evening was a success and the Northern Dakota County Sierra Communities group looks forward to an equally successful campaign.
On July 16th, 10 adults, 5 kids and a dog attended a hike entitled "Exploring a Local Wetland" in Wayzata.  We hiked the old Dakota Line Railbed, currrently being converted into a multi-use recreational trail for the region.
Jenny Schaust, Outreach Coordinator for Hennepin County Environmental Services discussed water quality, wetland health, and native and invasive species.  She also invited participants to learn more about the Wetland Health Evaluation Program.
