The nomads of the USFL, the Breakers saw the league from sea to shining sea.
The Breakers began their year in the Superdome with a 7-2 mark but even the addition of runningback Marcus Dupree couldn't keep them from stumbling badly over the last half of the season.
Breakers' QB John Walton also had two scoring tosses and needed one more on the final play of the game from the Stars' 14-yard line.

 PGE Park - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It has been the home of the Portland Breakers of the USFL and numerous minor-league baseball teams over the years.
In soccer, it hosts the Portland Timbers of the USL First Division, hosted four group matches in the 1999 Women's World Cup and hosted two group matches, two quarterfinals, and both semifinals in the 2003 Women's World Cup.
The stadium was renamed for Portland General Electric, which bought the naming rights.

This was an untenable situation for an organization that was attempting to be part of a major sports league; when no suitable solution to the venue problem could be found in the Boston area, the teams management decided to move it.
The proposed fall play never happened as the team, and the entire league, folded after the 1985 season when the USFL's antitrust suit resulted in its being awarded only $3 in damages.
The only real "name" player that the Breakers had was Marcus Dupree who played in 1984 and 1985 for them.

Once the USFL announced its move the fall, the Breakers had to leave their New Orleans Superdome home and continued their trek westward, landing in Portland, Oregon.
The Breakers won three out of their first seven games, including a big win at home over Oakland 30-17, before embarking on a road trip that would take them from coast to coast.
The Breakers then had to return home and face Jim Kelly and the run and shoot offense of the Houston Gamblers, an uphill task as the season was indeed on the line.

The Portland Rain went out to leads of 1-0 and 2-1 over the powerful Vancouver Breakers, but the Breakers rallied late and put in three goals in the final 25 minutes to take a 4-2 win in a match played in front of 417 fans at Tigard High School.
The Breakers were pushing deep for most of the rest of the game, but were unable to get many good chances until late in the half.
The Breakers now had control of the game against the tiring Rain defense, and it only took six minutes before they were to take control of the match.

See, Portland Trail Blazer Rasheed Wallace, the World's Tallest Child, has evidently located a blank spot on his body, one that hasn't yet been disfigured with tattooist's graffiti, and he is reportedly contracting with a candy company (Baby Ruth comes to mind; or maybe Just Born) to place its ad there.
I'll put Portland right up there with any town except Birmingham when it comes to being seduced by "pro" football pretenders in various guises.
