Camelot House The Necromancers   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-08)
The typical dragon protects a cavern filled with gold and treasure and is often associated with a great hero who tries to slay it, but dragons can be written in to a story in as many ways as a human character.
Celtic dragons often represented sovereignty or kingship, such as in the word 'Pendragon', to denote 'chief' although it is a portmanteu of pen meaning head in brythonic and dragon.
Camelot is the name of the stronghold of the legendary King Arthur, from which he fought many of the battles that made up his life.

 st: White noise tests
The time series are daily observations After I have regressed the dependent variable on a lot of endogenous variables and specified an ARMA(4.1) structure for the residuals I test for white noise of the residuals with the tests mentioned above.
Bartlett's test says that the residuals are white noise (0.4 / 0.99) But the Portmanteu say that the residuals are not white noise (57.9 / 0.03) Wich test result should I belive in?
Does the negative conclusion from the portmanteu test stem from the big sample size?

This is going to be a challenge for them (AND ME) in that the term "musicast" is becoming widely and generally used in podcasting.
I liken it to the words "daddycast", "healthcast", "sciencecast", and many of the other portmanteu words that exist as a result of this fledgling industry.
Anyway, if I do have to meet their SIX demands (one is no less the surrender of my domain name to them), then that is going to bring some things to a crashing halt.

Best seen in the works of J B Keane, his characters people those hastily built Victorian towns, intent on imposing an urban structure on a country sensibility where the tensions are seen in religious repression and sexual tensions.
Such myths are open to the worst forms of commercial exploitation, where nostalgia for some golden age of impoverished camaerdarderie is a portmanteu for marketting excess.
But as both Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes, and novelist John B. Keane have pointed out, such a cosy world, was a place many of us would not care to revisit.

 The Thin Red Line
It takes some time before combat action occurs, and the film is not structured around a series of engagements leading to a climactic battle as it normally the case.
Malick's concern here is not so much with the mechanics of the genre, or with the expected portmanteu of characterisations which reveal to us different ideas of the nature of war and of the behaviour human beings in times of conflict.
Instead the dialogue is almost incidental, vague, often simplistic ramblings which provide barely enough motivation to hold together what little plot there is.

Brief Encounter was the fourth and final film that David Lean made in association with Noel Coward, and can be considered the first definitive Lean film.
Derived from Still Life, a one-act play which Coward included in the portmanteu Tonight at 8:30, the story tells of an ordinary suburban housewife, Laura Jesson, who by chance meets a doctor, Alec Harvey, at the end of one of her weekly shopping trips to town.
As she stands on the platform waiting for her train, an express roars past and throws a piece of grit into her eye which Alec removes.

Honestly, Amores Perros was certainly better than Gladiator, which probably didn't even deserve to be nominated for Best Picture, let alone win.
Actually a Portmanteu film (thanks for helping jog my memory on the term, I'm getting old) can mean different things, and is mostly associated to short films tied together by a similar theme.
The Portmanteu technique in which 4 completely unrelated stories join together at some point in the narrative is not used as often, and certainly there had not been any notorious attempt at using it recently (and I stress NOTORIOUS here) until Amores Perros did back in 2000.

The dogfight between pro-sex feminism vs. antipornography feminism is older than Valenti, and I think everyone who is going to have an opinion has basically made up their minds on it by now.
As to the thing about whether Feministing was a portmanteu of "feminist sting" or "feminist fisting," I thought Ann was wrong about that, but it's hardly an absurd conclusion, and she was not the first or only blogger to draw that conclusion.
