This electoral district was modified by transferring the former municipalities of Charny, Saint-Jean-Chrysostome, Sainte-Hélène-de-Breakeyville and Saint-Rédempteur to the neighbouring electoral district of Lotbinière–Chutes-de-la-Chaudière.
The Municipality of Stoke that is part of the RCM Le Val-Saint-François, along with the former municipalities of Bromptonville, Rock Forest, Saint-Élie-d’Orford and Ascot Corner, merged with the new City of Sherbrooke, surround the electoral district of Sherbrooke.

The reason why the municipality was named after this clergyman from the region of Trois-Rivières is that the parish of Saint-Ignace de Frechette, cradle of the future municipality, was settled in 1935 by families from the city of Laviolette (in the Trois-Rivières region).
The municipality of Cloutier, with a population of 365, is located in the regional municipality of Rouyn-Noranda, which is itself within the administrative region of Abitibi-Témiscamigue.

Portneuf County is an historic county in Quebec, Canada west of Quebec City on the Saint Lawrence River.
It was bounded on the west by Champlain County on the northeast by Quebec County, and on the south by Lotbiniere County.
The southeastern part of the county was transferred to La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality and the Quebec Urban Community (now Quebec City) while parts of western Portneuf County was transferred to Mékinac Regional County Municipality.

In order to obtain a numerator, we compared the overall number of firms located in the region in question with the total number of firms at the same technological level in all of Québec.
When the quotient is equal to 1, this means that the region is average by Québec standards in terms of technological intensity.
The total number of firms was 329 in Montréal and 43 in Laval, which in both cases was equivalent to 5.3% of the total number of manufacturing firms in each of these two areas.
