To deter pavement ants from building their nests near your home, eliminate standing water, keep tree branches and other plants trimmed and away from your home, and seal any cracks or openings around your house.
You can also deter pavement ants by moving firewood and other building materials away from your house, because like their fellow ant species, pavement ants like to build nests in stacks of wood.
