 POST MODERNISM - a definition?
Post modernism starts with the premise that social history has moved on from that described by the founders.......current social trends indicate that history has not 'ended' with industrialisation, but has further developed.......we have moved on from an image of teleological change.
Since Post Modernism is relatively new (and a fashionable 'bandwagon') theory, it is actually quite difficult to pin point its basic characteristics, it means many different things to different thinkers and it is constantly being updated anyway.

Postmodernism has applications in many modern academic and non-academic disciplines; philosophy, theology, art, architecture, film, television, music, sociology, fashion, technology, literature, and communications are all heavilyinfluenced by postmodern trends and ideas, and are rigorously scrutinised from postmodern perspectives.
Thefunctional, mostly bland forms and spaces of the modernist movement are replaced by unapologetically bold aesthetics; stylescollide, form is adopted for its own sake, and new ways of viewing familiar styles and space abound.
