Keynesian economics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Keynesian economics (pronounced KAYNzian), also called Keynesianism, is an economic theory based on the ideas of John Maynard Keynes, as put forward in his book The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money, published in 1936 in response to the Great Depression of the 1930s.
Keynesian economics promotes a mixed economy, where both the state and the private sector play an important role.
Instead of the economic process being based on continuous improvements in potential output, as most classical economics had believed from the late 1700s on, Keynes asserted the importance of aggregate demand for goods as the driving factor of the economy, especially in periods of downturn.

Post-Keynesian economics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Post-Keynesian economics is a school of thought which is based on the ideas of John Maynard Keynes.
Thus, the post-Keynesian conception of the "long run" differs from that of neoclassicals and various neoclassical schools of Keynesian economics.
Post-Keynesians emphasize the need for government fiscal policy to support institutions to support employment and incomes.

 PKEvNKE.doc
This chapter is aimed at contrasting this Keynesian strand with New Keynesian economics, at least on an issue which is central to both approaches, that is the analysis of the causes of unemployment and the way to combat it.
Post Keynesians, especially Davidson, endorse Keynes’s arguments, and relate demand deficiency to the liquidity, the form in which people facing ‘radical’ uncertainty choose to hold their assets.
According to standard Keynesian economics, especially NKE, the principle of effective demand consists in a process of adjusting aggregate supply and demand through variations of quantities instead of prices and wages.

New Keynesian Economics, by N. Gregory Mankiw: The Concise Encyclopedia of Economics: Library of Economics and Liberty
New Keynesian economics is the school of thought in modern macroeconomics that evolved from the ideas of John Maynard Keynes.
Because new Keynesian economics is a school of thought regarding macroeconomic theory, its adherents do not necessarily share a single view about economic policy.
The elements of new Keynesian economics, such as menu costs, staggered prices, coordination failures, and efficiency wages, represent substantial departures from the assumptions of classical economics, which provides the intellectual basis for economists' usual justification of laissezfaire.

Eastern Economic Journal: Post Keynesian Economics: Debt, Distribution and the Macro Economy
ISBN 0-312-16064-X. Thomas Palley's Post Keynesian Economics aims to provide a novel, coherent, integrative and relatively formal statement of Post Keynesian macroeconomic theory, with an eye toward increasing communication with orthodox economists.
Given the diversity of starting points for Post Keynesian economics, a perceived lack of coherence, and the belief that there is no formal, well-thought out Post Keynesian model, these are important goals.
