  The Animus File
This document is in response to the identification of a major paranormal threat encountered today by Team Damballah in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
NOTE: this information was gained through a combination of postcognitive ability and telepathic probing of Animus' dying host.
Horace Alexander Conner was born June 18th 1820, and was put up for adoption in New York by his mother who told the nuns his name and nothing more.

However, cognition should not be so construed as to define emotion out of existence.
Nor should emotion be treated as unalterably postcognitive.
Its distinctive freedom from attentive control, its speed, the range and depth of writing that it can recruit suggest something special about its influence on language.

For some reason or another, Kotarou has some sort of ESP ability that is transmitted via physical contact; he accidentally gave his cousin and childhood friend, Tatsuki Oohira, the ability to see the past when the two were quite young.
Tatsuki is aware of this as well as very aware of his own postcognition, but Kotarou has no clue as to what's going on--as far as he knows, he's perfectly normal and Tatsuki's just good at finding lost keys.
Unfortunately, Tatsuki hates his postcognitive ability and cuts his friendship off with Kotarou because of it, which leaves a confused Kotarou without a best friend and wondering how he screwed things up so badly.

Gestalt Review - Vol. 3 - No. 1 (1999)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
Postmodern theater has also been heralded as the great break from anthropocentric art to a new form of transpersonal or postcognitive performance ritual where reason and everyday logic are being challenged.
The reason often mentioned for the use of such fragmentation techniques, according to Dick Higgins (1979), is the search for a greater or broader identity, not a split or fragmented personality.
But for postmodern performance artists, especially recent postcognitive ones–there is not so much a question of having a multiple identity as a polyvalent one.

PCNL Library - Postmodern Theater: A Manifestation of Chaos Theory?
Postmodern theater has also been heralded as the great break from anthropocentric art to a new form of transpersonal or postcognitive performance ritual where reason and everyday logic are being expanded.
Modern theater's normal narration is broken up into ideas, images and de-constructed fragments which form mosaic-like environments or four dimensional tableaux from which the spectator can select those bits of information which look interesting to him.
The reason often mentioned for the use of such fragmentation techniques, according to Dick Higgins, is the search for a greater or broader identity, not a split or fragmented personality.

Postmodern Psychology is Postcognitive:   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
Cognitive mechanisms are permissive, but not consitutive, that is, while they permit the process of selfhood to emerge they are not any more fundamental to selfhood than other levels of the system.
Such an approach has much in common with other postcognitive reformulations of psychology (Harre and Gillet, 1994) and with those seeking to replace the mechanistic underpinnings of science and technology (Thelen and Smith, 1994; Checkland, 1981).
Following Mead and Vygotsky, it is proposed that cultural practices produce cognitive competence, not vice versa.

Another colleague sneers at a writing instructor who has spent years devising computer-based curricula and developing courseware: "She's not a real computer person." The "real computer person," in his view, talks about chaos theory, fractals, Bakhtin, and the digital revolution--not about students.
Some of our most interesting work has leaned heavily on the poststructural, postcognitive, and postmodern, as well as theories of feminism, reader-response, human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and physics.
From the beginning, our uses of computers in composition have depended partly on the available technology, but primarily, they have been influenced by composition theory.

Kotarou Oohira, effeminate bishounen and basketball fanatic, moves in with his Grandpa in Tokyo to attend a coed school less, er, judgmental than his all-boys school in Niigata.
Along with the help of Yuuto, Kotarou and Tatsuki's (too?) friendly classmate who has the ability to see emotional auras around others, the three end up finding themselves in some strange mysteries surrounding their school and members of the community.
Yuuto doesn't mind so much, because he doesn't have a problem using his psychic ability, but Tatsuki, who must witness past beatings and injuries and suffering through his postcognitive investigations, is quite another matter.

Buddhism and cognitivism: A postmodern appraisal
Critiques of modern psychology and its reductionist assumptions often note the weakness of its account of psycho-physical continuity and the negative image of the human condition it promotes.
[25] Postmodern psychology will be postcognitive psychology; a pluralist discourse in which cognitivism will participate with other traditions to create a more complete science of the mind.
It is in this spirit that it has been suggested here that Buddhism may interact with cognitivism and thus play a role in the development of postmodern psychology.

Wilding is somewhat similar to Forcing, save that you don't know the something will be harmful - you are trying to make the world bear the cost of your magic rather then yourself.

Anime Dream Reviews - Tokyo Babylon OVA   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
Tokyo Babylon as an anime series traces two cases handled by spirit medium Sumeragi Subaru and company.
The episodes contain elements popularized in the American phenomena of X Files / Millenium / Profiler, with supernatural episodes presented in a modern environment from a more Japanese perspective of a pure spiritualist, instead of a Western (postcognitive) analyst.
The kinds of mystic traditions presented in the magic of the series are perfect examples of the Japanese tradition of syncretic religion which the Meiji policy of shinbutsu bunri rei (literally, the separation of Buddha and kami) tried to deny, making the visual presentation somewhat more daring than an American audience might initially suspect.

Spock and Data speak directly to just this issue.
Although the traditional assumption had generally been that awareness must mediate between stimulus and response, and therefore that emotion was a postcognitive phenomenon, these newer research findings have shown clearly that emotional response can and does bypass cognitive processing, conscious or unconscious, and that both rational and emotional processing are essential for our perceptual health.
In turn, this realization has caused a renewed interest in subliminal research, which is primarily concerned with how we register messages from the environment before, or without, becoming consciously aware of it.
