Buffy Phenomenon -- Buffy the Vampire Slayer Characters Ranked by Contribution to Episode Quality
The numbers in parentheses next to each name represents how many points an episode gains (or loses) each time the character opens her or his mouth, assuming that the number of lines that these characters have is the main cause of the quality of an episode.
Buffy's problem is that five of the ten episodes with the fewest Buffy lines are in the top 25 of all episodes in terms of quality with four of the remaining five in the top 60.
In fact, of the 48 episodes in which she has 100 or more lines, 19 are in the bottom 40 in terms of quality, and only seven are in the top 40.

So Buffy and Spike are training the Slayerettes in the fine art of being The Chosen One.
Anyway, the Slayerettes are a bit less bratty now that Buffy has schooled their collective ass, so Buff takes the opportunity to prattle on about being the Slayer and how special they all are.
Buffy and Spike working together for a common cause makes their dynamic slightly less annoying (though I do wish they'd stop with all the Meaningful Looks and such).

The Trades - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - 07.12: Potential
The idea of Dawn being a Potential made perfect sense, given that she was made from Buffy.
Kinda like Xander's episode in “The Replacment” (5.3), Dawn should realize that she has strong qualities within her and that it may not manifest like a slayer or a witch, a werewolf or a vampire, but it is powerful and can be used for good.
Having rescued him in the last episode, Buffy is clearly ready to forgive him, seeing him as a different man. She defended him to Andrew, had fond memories of his crypt, and talked out loud about her confusion over what she feels for him: her mortal enemy.

Buffy and Spike are both looking all healed up in episode 7.12, which would imply that some indeterminate amount of time has passed since she de-headified the "Chaka Khan" and pulled Spike out of the cave.
With all the talk that the show could potentially continue without SMG, or with her appearing as an occasional guest star, many people have speculated that Dawn might be a likely candidate for the chief stake-wielder in an eighth season ("Dawn The Vampire Slayer" is a phrase that many fans have batted around this year).
The real essence of this episode was that, in surrendering her taste of power to Amanda at that moment, Dawn ultimately accepted her role as a vital member of the team with only the tools of her own fragile humanity as her arsenal.

Buffy pushes until they admit the truth - they really wanted to run - and then launches into the first of her many speeches of the episode.
Buffy being seen by the Potentials as an obvious demon-fraternizer reminds us that she has indeed stepped outside the socially approved order, a little fact that can't help but give her lectures on demon treatment a wildly hypocritical air.
Buffy, after lecturing the Potentials for hours, had to resort to putting her charges under threat of death to get them in gear.
