Potong Pasir is an area located between Toa Payoh and Sennett Estate in the Central Region of Singapore.
Potong Pasir is particularly notable for being the longest-held opposition ward in a one-party dominant Singapore.
Potong Pasir is currently managed by Singapore's longest serving opposition Member of Parliament (MP), Chiam See Tong, from the Singapore People's Party, which is part of the Singapore Democratic Alliance, which is made up of four opposition parties.

Unfortunately I proceeded to become irritated when the issue of Hougang and Potong Pasir arose and we heard the same, tired old argument in response from MM Lee about how a party has the right to favour its supporters.
"Potong Pasir and Hougang residents deserve to be treated differently because they have made their choice to sacrifice a better living for the sake of having Opposition rule -- because of this choice, they are different from the rest of Singapore"
Similarly here; Potong Pasir and Hougang residents have made a conscious and informed choice which has to do with their belief system.

People walk slower in Potong Pasir, coffee shops look livelier, there is a whole lot of terrace houses - it’s like a mini-Malaysia.
