Pram (ship) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A pram or pramm was a type of shallow-draught flat-bottomed ship used in Europe during the 18th century, particularly in the Baltic Sea during the Great Northern War and Napoleonic Wars, as the pram's shallow draught allowed it to approach the shore.
"Pram" also refers to a small utility boat with a squarish rather than pointed bow.
This type of pram provides a more efficient use of space than does a traditional skiff of the same size.

 Hiaelperen - Defense frigate
In view of the availability of specialty vessels, such as special floating batteries, the cavalry pram Aggershuus, which could perform dual roles and thus double as an artillary pram, as well as old battlships which could be employed as unrigged floating batteries, a highly specialized vessel like Hiaelperen seems redundant and unnecessary.
Compare this ship to the particulars of the artillary pram Hjaelperinden of 1716, and the bomb vessel Dristigheden of 1771, both of which were armed with mortars, as well as a cannon armament, as well as with the cavalry pram Aggershuus, which was not armed with mortars.
Both the Eideren and Elven were apparently conceived as harbor defense ships, and both were seized in 1807 by the British when they occupied Copenhagen; the British employed both ships operationally in the British navy, but not in the role intended by the Danish admiralty.

Additional ships may be added to this list as active ships are decommissioned and designated for disposal, and as other inactive ships currently held in a retention status are redesignated for disposal.
The public may witness the sinking of the ship outside of this stand-off zone, but because the explosives are internal to the ship and will not cause damage to the hull, it is not likely that there will be anything to see except the ship slowly settling into the water over a five-hour period.
While the ship is currently accessible by a trained workforce conducting environmental and scuttling preparations, several fall and trip hazards exist which make the ship unsuitable for touring by the general public.

Fought in the Battle of Copenhagen on April 2, 1801, where she was employed as an artillary pram in the Danish defensive line.
These cavalry prams were capable of performing dual roles, and due to their heavy designed armament could easily double as artillary prams, as all three of these sister-ships demonstrated when they all participated in the Battle of Copenhagen on April 2, 1801, when they all formed part of the Danish defensive line.
Rendsborg was the only one of the three sister-ships to actually surrender to the British fleet, but Nyborg was so battered that she was not deemed repairing and was placed out of service.
