  Filmtracks: Predator (Alan Silvestri)
Predator: (Alan Silvestri) When considering the early projects of Arnold Schwarzenegger, many fans have argued successfully that Predator presents the actor-turned-politician in his most varied and human light.
The propulsion behind his Predator score caused the music, like the film, to be adopted as a cult classic, with bootlegged versions of the music appearing everywhere in the decades following the film's release.
He would go on to score Predator 2, which was larger in a symphonic sense (and made for a more impressive title theme in the opinion of some), but lacked the purely primordial edge of the original.

Predator (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Predator is a science fiction movie directed by John McTiernan and released on June 12, 1987.
Surmising that the Predator won't kill a victim unless they are armed, Dutch kicks a gun out of the woman's hands and tells her to get to the evac helicopter.
Additionally, the Predator itself lends to this theme due to its ability to attack, kill, and escape nearly undetected, often with the skulls and spinal columns of its victims to be kept as trophies.

 Predator (1987)
It just is. The muscle men, so often the scapegoat of bad films, manage to make something of the situation and you can actually believe that they are a crack team (with the exception of the nerdy Hawkins, who seems completely out of place).
The actual predator alien is a weird but original creation, which is instantly recognisable and has gone down as one of the classic film monsters.
The predator's menace is also enhanced with the brilliant "thermal imaging" point of view shots we are treated to throughout the film.

Digital Monkey Box Reviews: Predator 2
The success of the first Predator film guaranteed a sequel, so Predator 2 was born.
The drawback to this method is that it makes the film so different from the first Predator film that it is kind of a let down to fans of the first film.
Predator 2 is that it is placed in the “future." This isn’t a problem normally, but the “future” is only 7 years from the 1990 release of the film.

Alien vs. Predator (2004) - Ninth Symphony Films Review
Point blank: the predators in this film (there are several) do something that is so completely at odds with their nature that several scenes elicit laughter from the audience rather than awe or excitement.
Although the second "Predator" film was not as ingenious as the first, even that poorly regarded sequel followed the "rules" of the game and showcased a predator that was true to its nature.
The only place in which this film excels is in its alien and predator effects (just look at the photograph at the top of this review for the crew's beautiful creations).

Predator is one of the best action films ever made.
In Jungian terms the film is about how man has to confront and transcend (not conquer) his Shadow side if he ever hopes to become an integrated person.
The exposition or darkness stage of the film is when the team of commandos lead by major Dutch Schultz prepare to rescue a bunch of hostages in a tropical rain forest somewhere in South America.

Close to three years ago, amidst rumors of an Alien vs. Predator film (rumors that, sadly, have not since then amounted to much more), PC gamers got to enjoy one of the best franchise-based video games of quite some time.
Predators will have all of their classic hand-to-hand and long-range weaponry, different species of Xenomorphs will make their appearances, and the Marines take control of all the classics such as Smart Guns and Pulse Rifles.
Starcraft developers Blizzard haven’t officially acknowledged the Aliens and Predator films as inspiration for the game’s races, but off the books, several on the staff have cited their love of these particular SF creations.

From what I've been told, the Predator in this film is the son of the Predator from the first movie and has come to Earth following his "right of passage" to get revenge on Dutch.
The last 1/3 of the film takes place on the Predator's homeworld where The Rock is made aware of the Predator's intentions and why he's being hunted and released into the wild in very unfamiliar territiory.

12-Inch Stealth Scar Predator | Cool Stuff | SCI FI Weekly
Last year I reviewed a 12-inch pair of figures based on the Alien vs. Predator film, an Alien and a Predator, and the detail was excellent in both figures.
McFarlane has produced several fine figures from these films, and this one is most interesting not because of the detail McFarlane is famous for producing, but because it has all of the hallmarks of a McFarlane figure—molded completely in clear plastic.
For example, the Scar Predator has shoulder-blade joints, joints that mimic the action of the collarbones, angling the actual shoulder joints forward and backward by quite a bit, which allows for some nice dramatic poses.

If you are a fan of the Predator films or film music in general, buy it (especially at such a good price!) you won't be disappointed.
The story has dated a little now because so many films have done the same kind of thing since so if you're not a hardcore fan this is going to be wasted on you (pretty much Like Aliens 2 which is also a classic).
It's certainly undeniable that the Predator is the real star here, and rather than simply re-hashing the original story we do learn a little more about the creature, which is always good.

Alien Vs. Predator is a sequel to the first two Predator movies, and a prequel to the Alien series.
While the original two Alien films and the first Predator film were more cerebral, I believe Alien Vs. Predator to be better than the later films of those franchises.

"Alien vs. Predator" / a review and/or comments from Christian Spotlight on the Movies
Aliens, the second film in the franchise, was incredibly well-received, and definitely a fan-favorite, as well as made a ton of cash and cemented James Cameron as an extraordinary filmmaker.
Being a big aliens and predator fan I was worried they would taint their coolness with some cheezie lines or bad acting, however it was quite the opposite.
The basis of the film isn’t bad, since the connection was already made in Predator 2.

Filmtracks: Alien vs. Predator (Harald Kloser)
As hard as it is to fathom, the predators are as close to being the good-guys as any party can get, and the musical approach taken for the film by composer Harald Kloser follows the history of the predators' music on the big screen far more than the aliens' music.
His theme for the film carries over the anthemic qualities from The Day After Tomorrow --after all, this is serious material for comic book collectors!-- and performs it in a similarly slow style with emboldened brass and an enhanced choral presence.
Kloser does make an interesting distinction between the predators and aliens in his sound effects: the predator makes a metallic slashing sound for the wrist-worn blades it uses in battle and the alien produces a more extended, swishing and scraping sound that imitates its distinctive cry and whipping tail.

Well, after viewing the film, I have to say that the film certainly has its fault, but there's enough of the usually kill and fight sequences that we crave for to make this film worth seeing if you like the genre.
Considering both franchises had long been dormant due to its lack of profits over the years and the fact that Sigourney Weaver and Arnold Schwartzeneggar were no longer willing to repeat their performances, it's refreshing to see the species that we were once afraid of come back to fight each other.

Predator helped anchor Schwarzenegger's reputation as an action hero, but unfortunately the actor slowly abandoned roles such as these and instead attempted to expand his personality on screen, resulting in groaners such as Twins (1989), Kindergarten Cop (1990), and Last Action Hero (1993).

Building upon their work in the previous Alien films — and on H.R. Giger’s original Alien design and Stan Winston’s Predator creations — Gillis and Woodruff were careful not to change the look of the Alien and Predator so radically that fans would be upset.
