Bubalo pointed out that completion of the privatisation process is indispensable, and added that companies which were first privatised were much more attractive than the ones currently awaiting privatisation, since the latter are huge industrial systems and companies mired in problems.
Bubalo expects 2005 to be a record year in the privatisation process and revenues to reach €2 billion.

WASHINGTON, Apr 18 (Tanjug) - Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo told Tanjug in Washington on Monday that the relations between Serbia and the United States of America are continuously improving, stressing that the cooperation between Belgrade and The Hague tribunal had mostly contributed to that.
However, the improvement of the political relations will not have a serious confirmation unless progress is made in the economic area, Bubalo said before the Monday presentation of the Serbian economy's potential and prospects for investment, which will be held in Washington in the organization of US Steel and the Serbian government.
Minister Bubalo assessed that despite certain problems in the political relations with the United State, U.S. investors had demonstrated more understanding than European investors, and they are now leading investors in Serbia.

Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo said that the purpose of adoption of the National strategy of economic development is realisation of the second phase of the transition process.
Bubalo stated that realising the basic aim, according to the development scenario, implies that the 20.5% share of investment in GDP from this year is raised to 25.8% in 2012, with an average annual growth of 15.8%.
Bubalo said that a compromise has been achieved on holding parliamentary elections on January 21, 2007, while all other elections will be held after conditions are created and adoption of necessary amendments to the law, as is envisaged in the constitutional bill.

Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo said in an interview for yesterday’s issue of Politika daily that he supports a gradual privatisation process of the entire Serbian Oil Industry (NIS), provided that the state keeps the majority of the share capital, up to 51 percent of all parts, including the refineries.
Bubalo recalled that there are more than five million Punto cars across Europe and he announced that domestic producers could attain a significant role in the manufacture of spare parts for the Punto model.
Bubalo expressed the hope that the agreements initialled today will be officially signed in early September and he announced that a presentation of Punto with the Serbian symbols and name will be held in Belgrade in October under a gathering between Italian and Serbian businesspeople called “Italy in Belgrade 2005”.

Nis, April 19, 2006 — Serbian Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo visited Nis today where he opened a fashion fair which is being held in the organisation of the Association of Entrepreneurs and the Impuls textile cluster.
Bubalo said that the government is giving serious thought to reducing income tax from 14% to 10%.
Bubalo recalled that last year that sum was 6 billion dinars, noting that in order to boost production, the government wrote off debts to many companies, totaling €3.8 billion.

12-11-06 The Serbian Minister of Economy, Predrag Bubalo, has announced that, by December 20th, the Serbian Government, the Serbian natural gas monopoly Srbijagas and the Russian company Gazpromexport will sign a memorandum of understanding regarding the construction of the natural gas pipeline through Serbia, measuring some 400 km in length.
He said that the Serbian Government has approved the signing of the memorandum in a session and pointed out that the building of the pipeline from Bulgaria towards Nis, Croatia and Northern Italy is a major greenfield investment, which will provide Serbia with an alternate supply route for natural gas.
Bubalo said that the construction of the pipeline is important for Serbia, because it will allow for a steady supply for both citizens and the industry and because it will result in considerable revenue being raised from transit fees.
