In Dune, the Banner is described only as «fl and green», when refered to throughout the book.
In the second volume of the series, Dune Messiah, after Paul Atraides is made Emperor, the banner is now described as green and white, perhaps the is the flag shown in the movie is this one?).
The Banner of House Harkonnen is orange according to p.233 of Dune Messiah; an "H" monogram is used to emblazon furniture (at least).

Prelude to Dune; House Atriedes is a book based on the initial drama crafted by Frank Herbert.
Returning to the desert world of Dune where Sandworms guard the precious spice mélange and the ruling powers are not always who they seem to be.
Personally I think that this prelude focuses more on action than the originals subtle little tricks but this does not matter as there is so much to get through in one book that it would be extremely difficult to write a book short enough that readers would not be put off by its immense size.

Dune is the science fiction novel that many other stories in the same genre are compared to.
I think the issue some "Dune fans" are having is that Brian and Kevin don't have the same prose as Frank.
Dune Messiah was my least favorite of the original series, but they did a really good job of adapting it to the screen.

I had never been much interested in the new Dune novels written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson, because I had assumed that the only reason for their existence was to make money off his father's reputation.
She was kind enough to lend me The Butlerian Jihad and the three Prelude To Dune novels.
The original Dune novel was written in the sixties, so Frank Herbert can't be blamed for not making the technology of the distant future consistent with what has actually taken place over the last 30 years.

Since there are twelve Dune novels preceding “Dune 7,” we could not tell the climactic story in one novel, and needed to do it in two books.
