He was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of New South Wales in 1913 for the electorate of Granville, serving as a backbencher in the Labor Party government led by William Holman.
However, many New South Welsh people were appalled at what was widely perceived as Lang's disloyalty to the British Empire and fiscal irresponsibility in refusing to pay interest on Government debts raised in London.
He remained a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly (lower house) until 1946, when he was elected as the Member for Reid in the Commonwealth House of Representatives.

A member of the Australian Labor Party, Carr entered the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as MP for in 1984, becoming Opposition Leader after Labor's 1988 defeat.
Carr, the son of a train-driver, was educated at the University of New South Wales, from which he graduated as a Bachelor of Arts majoring in history.
In August 2004, Carr faced criticism due to his alleged involvement in the Orange Grove affair, and also from the commissioner of the New South Wales Independent Commission Against Corruption, due to his remarks that a minister being investigated by ICAC would be "vindicated" before ICAC released their findings, resulting in an allegation of contempt.

Neville Kenneth Wran (born October 11, 1926) was the Premier of New South Wales in 1976 until 1986.
Wran was educated at Nicholson Street Public School, Balmain, Fort St Boys' High and the University of Sydney he was admitted as a solicitor in 1951, called to the Bar in 1957, and became Queen's Counsel in 1960.
Wran resigned from the New South Wales Parliament on 4 July 1986 after holding office longer than any other Premier in the history of NSW government, although current NSW Premier, Bob Carr is on track to eclipse that record.

His career was among the stormiest in Australian political history, and his defiance of Labor prime minister James Henry Scullin contributed to the latter's defeat in 1931 and the decline of the Labor party in Australia.
He held dictatorial power over the party machine in New South Wales, personally took control of party funds, and dominated the labor movement in the state for a decade.
In November of 1930, when the worldwide economic depression had spread to Australia, Lang won the New South Wales election on a platform opposing retrenchment and defying an agreement to balance the state budgets, which state premiers had agreed to earlier in Melbourne.

He became deputy-leader of the Labor party in 1905, and at the 1907 election he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assemby for the seat of Cootamundra.
The Labor Party had a policy commitment to abolishing the New South Wales Legislative Council, with Holman moving a motion in 1893 that the upper house be abolished.
Holman, as Premier, lost his seat in the NSW parliament April 12, 1920, with the election of a Labor Government lead by John Storey, but continued outside parliament as a senior figure in conservative politics.
