Meanwhile, at a convention of the Reichstag at Frankfurt in 1274, Rudolph decreed that all imperial lands seized since the death of Emperor Frederick II must be returned to the crown.
Placing Otakar under the ban of the empire, Rudolph besieged Vienna and compelled Otakar in November 1276 to sign a treaty by which he gave up Austria and the neighbouring duchies, retaining for himself only Bohemia and Moravia.
Otakar's son Wenceslaus was betrothed to Rudolph's daughter Judith, and an uneasy peace was made.

Premysl Ottokar II (or Premysl Ottakar II, Czech: Premysl Otakar II) (c.
1230-1278), king of Bohemia (1253-1278), was a son of King Wenceslaus I[?] of Premysl dynasty, and through his mother, Kunigunde, was related to the Hohenstaufen family, being a grandson of the German king, Philip of Swabia.
During his father's lifetime he ruled Moravia, but when in 1248 some discontented Bohemian nobles acknowledged him as their sovereign, trouble arose between him and his father, and for a short time Ottokar was imprisoned.

They succeeded in laying the foundations of a Czech state towards the end of the ninth century by eliminating their opponents, the Vrsovic and Slavnik clans (the only Vrsovic to escape the massacre of his family was St. Vojtech/Wojciech/Adalbert who, in relief at his salvation, became a Christian missionary and was martyred by the Prussians).
Premysl promised the dukes of Poland aid in holding off their enemies and over the next twenty years launched two Crusades in the east; against the Prussians in 1255 (the Teutonic Order named their new settlement on the Pregel river after him; Konigsberg) and the Lithuanians in 1267.
Rudolf I demanded Otakar’s Austrian acquisitions which he was forced to surrender (1276), having been abandoned by his allies and his own nobility, receiving back Bohemia and Moravia as fiefs.

Premysl Otaknr II was one of the outstanding Czech kings and he governed a large territory but was defeated in 1278 in the historic battle at Moravske Pole (Marchfeld) and was killed by his enemies.
The young king was assassinated in Olomouc in 1306; the House of Premysl died with him.
