Topic: Prequel trilogy

Prequel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This film is both sequel and prequel, since it intercuts the further story of the Corleone mafia family under the leadership of Michael Corleone with the story of his father Vito Corleone in his youth.
Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia is The Magician's Nephew, a prequel to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe which was written first.
Thus, it was both a prequel and a remake.

Star Wars: Blogs | Thoughts of a Dark Lord | Why the Prequel Trilogy doesn't Look like the Original Trilogy
However, in the Prequel trilogy there are not many scenes which take place in space or have it anywhere near, most the films take place on planets.
For in the Prequel era, things are not as oppressive as they become in the OT era.
To tell the story he needed--and wanted--to tell with the prequels, he had to establish quickly (which with film the best way to do that is visually without explaining it through dialogue) the different time period, a time where the oppression did not exist.

The Antechamber -> Making Peace With The Prequel Trilogy-Part 1
Also, for me to see if the Prequels really did their job I have to look at the bits and pieces of the story that were mentioned in the Original Trilogy.
Not the fall of the Republic, not the Clone Wars, not the rise of the Empire and not the destruction of the Jedi Knights.
It introduced the major players, showed us the beginnings of the downfall of the Republic (in a rather weak way, but it’s there), the Jedi as they were before their destruction, and the beginnings of Anakin’s slide to the dark side (again, in a rather weak way, but it’s there).

Rotten Tomatoes Forums - Do you think 'Sith' will change viewing the Prequel Trilogy?
I think it'd be very hard for RotS to improve my opinion of the prequels for the most part, but the area in which it might help is the plot-line.
I found the plots of the prequels to be idiotic and illogical, especially AotC.
Prequel detractors can say what they will, but the OT itself is a better trilogy with the prequels now.

Rotten Tomatoes Forums - Prequel Trilogy......am i the only one who likes it?
The only way not to notice how overall bad the new trilogy is to either have attention deficit disorder that causes you to zone out whenever there isn't wicked action going on onscreen (an unfortunate side effect of MTV), or to have an incredibly selective memory.
I actually like the original trilogy, but that doesn't mean that I can't see its faults, unlike some fans who proclaim that they're the greatest films of all time.
The original trilogy was a little campy in some spots, but overall it had a great storyline and I think the acting was fairly well done.

Like I stated, the film is polluted with some of the same stuff that plagues the other films in the Prequel Trilogy.
After all, this is a trilogy and each film needs to lead into the next.
Especially with a story like the story that is being presented in the Prequel Trilogy.

Lucas spent years with his other companies refining the technology, but again, the question is whether or not the eu is responsible for the prequel trilogy.
However, I think that the EU could have been the death of the prequel trilogy.
The most that I guess I would say is that the EU reassured him that there was a desire for more Star Wars so it didn't destroy the prequel trilogy but it wasn't responsible for the movies either.

Whenever I talk to peple about Star Wars they always say that they liked the sequel trilogy better, but personaly I liked the prequel trilogy better so far and the few minutes I have seen of Revenge of the Sith.
They both have their own strengths and weaknesses, but together they will make a great and near perfect saga, which is greater than the sum of it's parts.
I believe the Prequel Trilogy is a great deal darker than the Classic Trilogy.

The Star Wars Prequel Trilogy: Was it Worth It?
And why, while on the topic of politics, would someone born into slavery embrace totalitarianism as a political philosophy?) It’s clear that Anakin and Padme’s relationship is vital to the story Lucas wants to tell, but doubts as to its plausibility prove to be fatal.
The prequel trilogy merely end up coasting on the audience’s goodwill, which can work well enough for popcorn entertainment if the final payoff is nice and juicy...
It should be obvious by now what the answer to my earlier question is: from a dramatic standpoint, the prequel trilogy ultimately has nothing of substance to offer beyond its visceral entertainment value.

It's almost impossible to pick one character, all all those characters were enriched incredibly by the prequels, but to pick one, it has to be Vader.
I never cared as much about him in the OT as I cared about Luke, but actually knowing who he was, what kind of background he came from, and what motivated his fall just made him an even greater character than he already was, IMO.
