  President William McKinley High School - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
President William McKinley High School, more commonly referred to as McKinley High School, is a public, co-educational college preparatory high school of the Hawaii State Department of Education and serves grades nine through twelve.
Founded in 1865 and renamed in memorial to William McKinley, the twenty-fifth President of the United States, it is one of the oldest secondary schools in the state and several of its buildings have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
McKinley's athletic teams compete in the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) and the Hawaii High School Athletic Association (HHSAA).

William McKinley, the twenty-fifth president of the United States, was born in Niles, Trumbull county, Ohio, on the 29th of January 1843.
McKinley reflected the strong sentiment of his manufacturing constituency in behalf of a high protective tariff, and he soon became known in Congress (where he particularly attracted the attention of James G. Blaine) as one of the most diligent students of industrial policy and questions affecting national taxation.
McKinley's message to the new Congress dwelt upon the necessity of an immediate reyision of the tariff and revenue system of the country, and the so-called Dingley Tariff Bill was accordingly passed through both houses, and was approved by the President on the 24th of July.

William McKinley (January 29, 1843 - September 14, 1901) was the 25th (1897-1901) President of the United States.
Following graduation he taught school, then at the start of the American Civil War enlisted in the Union Army on June 23, 1861, as a private in the Twenty-third Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and was mustered out as captain and brevet major of the same regiment in September 1865.
McKinley was shot by an anarchist, Leon F. olgosz, on September 6, 1901 while attending the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, and died from his wounds there on September 14, 1901.

By 1900, however, he saw reciprocity as a means for commercial expansion and a way to promote world peace.
McKinley was a veteran of the Civil War and retained vivid memories of the bloody conflict.
