Pressure Gauge Products From Ashcroft Set the Standard
Pressure gauge from Dresser Instruments have set the standard for accuracy, quality, and dependability in pressure measurement for over 150 years.
Ashcroft pressure gauge products can be ordered with pressure ranges from inches of water to 100,000 psi; dial sizes from 23 mm to 12 inches; accuracy from 3 % full-scale to.05% full-scale and numerous bourdon tube materials are available for virtually every application.
Often, Ashcroft gauges are identified by the industry that they serve, such as, industrial pressure gauge, test gauges, process gauges, high-purity gauges, and commercial gauges.

Pressure - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pressure (symbol: p) is the force per unit area acting on a surface in a direction perpendicular to that surface.
Pressure is still sometimes expressed in kgf/cm² or grams-force/cm² (sometimes as kg/cm² and g/cm² without properly identifying the force units).
Because pressure is commonly measured by its ability to displace a column of liquid in a manometer, pressures are often expressed as a depth of a particular fluid (e.g.

Pressure gauge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1849 the Bourdon tube pressure gauge was patented in France by Eugene Bourdon.
A pressure or vacuum gauge usually consists of a closed coiled tube connected to the chamber or pipe in which pressure is to be sensed.
In gauges intended to sense small pressures or pressure differences, or require that an absolute pressure be measured, the gear train and needle may be driven by an enclosed and sealed bellows chamber, called an aneroid, which means "without liquid".

 Process Pressure Measurement
When using SI units, it is proper to add "gauge" to the units used, such as "Pa gauge." When pressure is to be measured in absolute units, the reference is full vacuum and the abbreviation for "pounds per square inch absolute" is psia.
A pressure transmitter is a standardized pressure measurement package consisting of three basic components: a pressure transducer, its power supply, and a signal conditioner/retransmitter that converts the transducer signal into a standardized output.
As pressure changed, the flexible element moved, and this motion was used to rotate a pointer in front of a dial.

 Pressure
Since static fluid pressure is determined by the fluid density and depth, the depth or height difference of a given liquid is commonly used for pressure measurement:
This is indicative of the normal pressure drop in a flowing fluid from Poiseuille's law since the diameters of the top tube are the same at the left and right tubes.
Since the static fluid pressure is dependent only upon density and depth, choosing a liquid of standard density like mercury or water allows you to express the pressure in units of height or depth, e.g., mmHg or inches of water.

Pressure Gauge Selection   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-04)
When selecting a pressure gauge consideration should be given to a number of parameters which have an effect on gauge accuracy, safety, and utility.
Case pressure buildup may be slow, but it is possible that a large hole may suddenly develop, with a high rate of case pressure rise, which could result in a failure similar to an explosive failure.
Consequences of such loss of accuracy may be a pressure gauge which stops responding to pressure changes or is slow or sporadic in response to pressure changes in the measured media.

Eaton Aerospace - Rediscovering the Strain Gauge Pressure Sensor
In another option, the strain gauges are bonded to a beam, and pressure is transmitted by a diaphragm or bellows that pushes on the beam.
Pressure deflects the sensing element, causing tensile strain on two opposing sides of the bridge and compression strain on the other opposing sides, providing a differential voltage signal that can be supplied to a variety of devices.
Pressure measurement is derived from the difference between the compression and tension voltages in the bridge and their floating relative to ground.

The OD Pressure Gauge   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-04)
After attaching the gauge and jacking up the rear wheels (or taking the brute for a ride with the transmission tunnel removed and a partner to watch the road), you can watch the pressure behavior as the pump delivers oil to the accumulator.
At this point, the pressure should remain essentially constant even thought the transmission output shaft speed continues to increase or until something is done to drain off the accumulated oil (like the operating valve being moved by the solenoid).
The pressure relief level of the accumulator is determined by that humongous spring behind the solenoid mounting plate on the side of the OD housing.

 Oil Pressure Gauge
To mount the 1994 oil pressure gauge in the 1999 instrument cluster, I had to remove the three hexagonal mounting lugs on the back of the 1994 gauge to gain the necessary clearance to seat the gauge in the cluster.
Since the electrical contacts on the 1994 gauge are almost exactly opposite that of the 1999 printed circuit board, I had to physically attach 3 small wires to the back of the gauge and attach them individually to the circuit board.
Final mounting of the oil pressure gauge had to be done via clear RTV sealant because there was no practical method of mechanically attaching the gauge to the 1999 instrument cluster.

Howstuffworks "How does a blood pressure gauge (sphygmomanometer) work? What exactly is blood pressure?"
A blood pressure gauge is simply a way to measure the performance of the pump and the pipes.
As the pressure in the cuff is released, blood starts flowing again and the doctor can hear the flow in the stethoscope.
High blood pressure can cause the heart to fail (from working too hard), or it can cause kidney failure (from too much pressure).

 Miata Oil Pressure Gauge upgrade
When I learned that the oil pressure gauge in my '99 Miata was just an "idiot light" masquerading as a gauge, I decided to do something about it.
In olden days, almost all cars with pressure lubrication systems (yes, there were some that didn’t have them) had gauges to give the driver an indication of the engine’s oil pressure.
The electrical gauges consisted of transducers whose electrical resistance varied with the oil pressure and instruments – much like fuel gauges – that responded to the variations in resistance.

The code stores a gauge pressure which is the absolute pressure minus gauge pressure.
For most applications, the gauge pressure should be set to zero, allowing the code to perform all calculations using absolute pressure.
So once the problem has started, if the gauge pressure is changed there will be an inconsistency introduced into the problem setup, causing an error in the pressure value.
