Prestatyn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Prestatyn is a seaside resort in the administrative county of Denbighshire, traditional county of Flintshire, North Wales, lying on the east coast.
The Roman bath house is believed to be part of a camp/military base on the route march from Chester to Caernarfon.
Although Prestatyn remains a tourist destination, the decline of the British holiday means the town is diversifying.

 The Parish of Prestatyn
The name Prestatyn can be traced back many centuries, but the town is essentially a creation of the 19th Century.
The Parish of Prestatyn was formed in 1860 by a separation from the older neighbouring Parishes of Meliden and Llanasa, and three years later, at Whitsun, on 27 May 1863, Christ Church, the Parish Church was consecrated.
For many years there was a Welsh congregation as large as the English one, but although the Parish remains bi-lingual, the Welsh congregation has steadily declined in recent years.

Prestatyn lies five miles north of the main east-west highway from the legionary fortress at Deva (Chester) into North Wales.
It is very likely that a Roman branch-road linked Prestatyn with the main highway near St Asaph, and continued south through the territories of the Deceangi along the valley of the River Clwyd, to the fort at Ruthin and the Berwyn Mountains, the realm of the Ordovices.
There is some evidence that another road followed the coast south-east to Deva via the silver/lead mines at Pentre, though this route may have been supplied by sea.
