Prestige class - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In its original form and in the first edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons rules — in which the term "prestige class" was not used — subclasses often required a character to have higher ability scores or specific alignments as opposed to those allowed in the standard classes.
In addition, the dual-class and multi-class rules (via which a character could change classes while retaining some of the abilities of the former class, or could pursue multiple classes simultaneously) were streamlined and refined from the rather awkward and limiting form they took in the first edition rules.
Prestige Classes are often tied to specific institutions or cultures in the game world.

These prestige classes are not for the faint of heart looking for "a perfectly balanced prestige class that is suitable to any campaign." The prestige classes presented here will be harsh in their prerequisites yet generous in their abilities.
I could have made the prestige class requirements ridiculous but someday some player will want to take this class, as long as he jumps through all the hops and is truly dedicated I may let him.
Bad editing on prestige classes abound because there are no set rules in the DMG for prestige class creation and the articles by monte cook (from dragon magazine not his own website) are the only official source on the matter and they are ignored.

I have to wait for HotU till the end of March, but I'm very interested in the Weapon Master prestige class, and because I feel I won't be playing NWN too many times, I've come up with a plan.
For prestige classes - you can only go to level 10 in that class, untill you have reached level 10 in another (combination) of classes.
the requierment I've seen in the documentation is that you can't level to 11 in prestige class before level 20 (that is for instance the 10/10 split).
