  Manchester Poor Law Union and Workhouse
The area which was later to become the Prestwich Poor Law Union initially formed part of the Manchester Union.
Prestwich Union effectively ceased to exist on 31st March, 1915, when it was amalgamated with the South Manchester (formerly Chorlton) Union and Manchester township to form a new single Manchester Union.
In 1918, the former Prestwich workhouse was renamed Delaunay's Road Institution and later became Delaunay's Hospital, which in turn, became part of the North Manchester General Hospital.

Founder member of the Prestwich Manufacturing Company, established in 1895, Prestwich was an engineer of outstanding ability, who constructed some of the finest cinematographic apparatus of cinema's first decade.
John Alfred Prestwich was born in Kensington, London, and was educated at the City and Guilds School and the City of London School.
In November 1897 Prestwich was selling the Moto-Photograph apparatus - which W.C. Hughes had previously sold as the Moto Bijou Living Picture camera, but which had been designed by one of the Prestwich family; probably John Alfred, since it shares the same mechanism as his Duplex machine produced with Friese Greene.

It was printed by the Clarendon Press and informed me that Prestwich had an M.A. degree and had been a Fellow of both the Royal and Geological Societies.
As I carefully skimmed the book (it really is in terrible condition), I recognized many of the drawings and realized that Prestwich had first intended his text to be a series of discrete letters, perhaps based on his lectures, quite an imaginative pedagogical approach.

This time it is the turn The Steve Prestwich Band, and while there are a couple of really nice songs, this is probably best going to please die-hard fans, and anyone with a serious interest in blues-based music.

Hundreds of human skeletons unearthed from Prestwich Street in Cape Town are likely to be reinterred at a memorial park to be established on the corner of Somerset Road and Buitengracht Street.
The statement said the site that had been selected was the "gateway to the Green Point area" and was only a few streets away from Prestwich Street where the skeletons were found over a year ago during excavations for a shopping and office complex.
As was legally required, excavations were halted and archaeologists from UCT were given a permit by Sahra to exhume the skeletons.
