Presumed Innocent would be the director's only film featuring the music of film score legend John Williams.
Thus, Presumed Innocent stands out as a rare stylistic departure for Williams, one that he would not further investigate later in the decade.
Differing in its intent is Presumed Innocent, however, and the score's underwhelming aim has often led to its demise in the opinions of film music reviewers.

Presumed innocent - once, briefly - On Line Opinion - 15/11/2000
In a criminal trial, the jury is famously instructed to presume that the defendant is innocent and to acquit unless the prosecution proves its case beyond reasonable doubt.
For example, the jury is free to presume that certain classes of witnesses can be trusted, or that certain kinds of evidence are foolproof and tamper-proof, or that certain forms of official malpractice, although theoretically possible, do not actually happen (well, not here anyway).
If you are an innocent defendant you cannot fairly be described as a "user"' of legal services, because you have no reasonable discretion on whether to engage counsel and absolutely no interest in being brought before a court.

Presumed Innocent is an achievement of a high order -- with marvelous control and touch, an awesome capacity to assemble and dispense (and sometimes withhold) evidence, and a cast of characters who are dismayingly credible.
Presumed Innocent is one of the most enthralling novels I have read in a long, long time.
It is a supremely suspenseful and compelling novel; but beyond the powerful tensions and reverberations of its plot, Scott Turow's book holds the reader because of the fullness and reality of the world he has created.

However, rarely is it ever forthrightly stated that we are not to be presumed innocent.
We never lost our right to be presumed innocent, so no law in Florida, Supreme Court decision, or act of Congress needs to return us to the state of presumed innocence.
However, the real story here is that “broadcast journalism’s most experienced Washington reporter” (according to CBS News) thinks that being presumed innocent “really changes things.” One could reasonably deduce, then, that he also believes that, this law aside, the law of the land is that we are presumed guilty until proven innocent.

Rich with ambiguity, this smooth adaptation of Scott Turow's bestselling mystery novel stars Harrison Ford as Rusty Sabich, the prosecuting attorney assigned to a case involving the murder of a beautiful, seductive lawyer (Greta Scacchi) with whom he'd been having a secret affair.
While Ford's performance rides a fine line between presumed innocence and possible guilt, director Alan J. Pakula (All the President's Men) maintains a consistent tone of uncertainty that keeps the viewer guessing.

Though one little flaw I noticed was that Rusty, though he's being accused of a crime he didn't commit, shows almost no interest for saving himself, probably this was made to metaphorically in your mind measure Rusty in the balance of justice, though it seemed strange.
One of the highpoints of course was the turn of tables, when the investigator becomes the accused and based on the evidence found, an innocent man could be convicted of a crime he didn't do.
