Politics of Bosnia and Herzegovina takes place in a framework of a federal parliamentary representative democratic republic, whereby the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the head of government, and of a pluriform multi-party system.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is divided into two Entities - the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska, as well as the district of Brčko.
The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina is nominated by the Presidency and approved by the House of Representatives.

Bosnia: After Friday's reopening on July 23rd 2004, of the historic bridge of Mostar, was blown up in fighting between Muslims and Croats during the Bosnian war in 1993, European papers assess the significance of the ceremony.
Herzegovina followed in 1482 and the Turks remained in control until 1878, during that time Turkish influence was enormous.
Bosnia- Herzegovina was the poorest of the republics, after Macedonia, in the old Yugoslav federation, and was the most central of the country’s six republics, covering an area of 51,129 km [19,736 sq miles].

In the last five years over two thowsend citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina had the ID of a member of parliament, some five hundred were ministers, and a two dozen primministers and presidents of states.
While the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is divided into cantons (or counties) as their federal parts, the Republic of Srpska is a unitary state.
However, today the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has more than five hundred Members of parliament (both federal and cantonal), ministers (again both federal and cantonal) and deputies of ministers which trough the institutions of the system, and by the national key, are blocking every decision, and even those that are obviously in common interest.

Bosnia now has until 30 June 2004 to implement the EC’s recommendations and to make significant progress in 16 priority areas before the green light will be given to open SAA negotiations.
The prime minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Adnan Terzic, said on 19 November that the EC report was “better than we had hoped for,” adding that the EC’s recommendations had already been put into motion, and that Bosnian authorities will have no problem meeting the June 2004 deadline.
Bosnia’s answers were discussed with the EC in a series of working groups between May and September 2003.
