In the county the population is spread out with 20,8% under the age of 19, 48,3% from 19 to 60, and 30,9% over 60.

The Alliance of Primorje - Gorski Kotar (Croatian: Primorsko goranski savez) is a Croatian regional political party of Primorsko-goranska County.
After winning a seat in 1992 elections, the party expanded its activities to the rest of Primorsko-goranska County and changed the name accordingly.
The party originated in city of Rijeka under the name of Rijeka Democratic Alliance (Croatian: Riječki demokratski savez, RiDS).

Primorje - Gorski kotar County has also joined this programme and allocated certain funds from its budget for donation of tornjak dogs and electrical fences to the livestock breeders from this County, as a measure for the protection of livestock from large predators.
Since 2003 altogether 70 tornjak puppies were donated to the livestock breeders in Gorski kotar, Lika and Dalmacija; 60 in the scope of the LIFE project, 5 as a special donation of the State Institute for Nature Protection and 5 with the financial support of the Zadar County.
After the cattle-breeders from the regions of Gorski kotar, Lika and Dalmatia had been invited to submit requests for electric fences and tornjak dogs, which will be donated within the framework of the project, a total of 20 users of electric fences and 60 users of tornjak dogs were selected.
