Prince Albert is the third-largest city (after Saskatoon and Regina) with a population of 41,070 as of 2006, in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada.
In the early beginnings of Saskatchewan, Prince Albert was one of the choices to house either the University of Saskatchewan or the Saskatchewan Federal Penitentiary.
The future of wood processing in Prince Albert is in doubt because of an October 5, 2005 announcement by Weyerhaeuser stating it would be closing down the Pulp and Paper Mill located just east of the city.

The Prince Albert Raiders are pleased to announce that 19 year-old defenceman AJ Thelen of Savage, Minnesota has signed a player and education contract committing him to play with the Raiders in the Western Hockey League for the 2005-06 season.
Thelen was selected by the Raiders in the 2002 WHL Bantam Draft, in the 3rd round, 49th overall.
Thelen and his parents were in Prince Albert during the 2005 playoffs, attending the 3rd and 4th games of the series between the Raiders and Medicine Hat Tigers.

Going from the Raiders to Tri-City is 19-year old defenceman Landon Jones while Prince Albert gets 18-year old local product Jarrid Dowhay and a seventh round selection in the 2006 WHL bantam draft.
Jones, a former Regina Pat, was in his second season with the Raiders and had one assist and 34 penalty minutes in fourteen games.

He was not expected to be available with the eighth overall pick, but when he was the Prince Albert Raiders nabbed Blackie native Jeremy Colliton in the first round of the Western Hockey League's bantam draft which was held at the Canadian Airlines Saddledome on Thursday.
Keith Wilson, head scout for the Raiders, said the Prince Albert organization was impressed with not only Colliton's scoring and playmaking ability, but also his play in the defensive zone.
The Raiders are so impressed with Colliton, they are counting on the Blackie product to crack the Prince Albert line-up as a 16-year-old in the 2001-2002 season.

The fifth choice, 68th overall selection of the Florida Panthers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, McNeill is a graduate of the WHLs Prince Albert Raiders.
A hard-nosed defenseman, McNeill played four seasons in Prince Albert, accumulating 929 penalty minutes while registering 32 points (11-21-32) before making his NHL debut with the Panthers during the 2003-04 season.
The former Prince Albert Raider went on to play a handful of games with Florida, while spending the majority of the season in the AHL with the San Antonio Rampage.
