	Gu, Prince Imperial Hoeun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Gu, Prince of Korea (aka Yi Ku, I Gu, Lee Gu) (29 December 1931 – 16 July 2005) was a claimant to the throne of Korea, contested twenty-ninth head of the Korean Imperial Household, and the grandson of Gojong of the Korean Joseon Dynasty.
		Gu was born in Kitashirakawa Palace (now Akasaka Prince Hotel), Kioicho, Kojimachiku, Tokyo, Japan; his father was Crown Prince Eun of Korea, and his mother was Princess Bangja, born Masako Nashimoto, a Japanese princess.
		Made stateless by Japan in 1947, Gu acquired U.S. citizenship in 1959, and Korean citizenship in 1964.

		One of my students yesterday wanted me to come along with her to the funeral of Yi Gu, the last member of the Chosun (Yi) Dynasty, who was found dead in a Tokyo hotel a few days ago, and whose remains have been transported back to Seoul's Changdeok Palace.
		Yi Gu's semi-exile in Japan (he spoke little to no Korean, but was able to conduct interviews in English: he'd lived in America and studied architecture at an Ivy League school in the States) was in large measure a function of South Korean dictators who had no desire to see the reestablishment of monarchy.
		When he was alive, Yi would come back to Korea for ceremonial occasions, but I suppose his lack of Korean ability made it difficult for him to connect with the masses.

		LSYXLBW is a historical non-wuxia serial, but I didn't notice Jia Yi Ping in there until much later because I didn't even know who he was at the time.
		I think a DoMD remake starring Bao Bao and Jia Yi Ping would be able to challenge the pairing of Andy Lau and Tony Leung CW, but it'd better be made soon before they get too old.
