The Prince of Wales's Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for four-year-old and above thoroughbreds run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs (2,012 metres) at Ascot Racecourse during the Royal Ascot meeting in June.

The race was absent from Royal Ascot in the period following World War II (when there was no Prince of Wales), and re-emerged in 1968, a year before Prince Charles' investiture in 1969, with a shortened distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs.

Elvstroem's globetrotting romp around the world's racetracks is likely to lead back to France for his final race after a rousing third place in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at the Royal Ascot meeting in York yesterday (Melbourne time).
Trainer Tony Vasil was delighted with the Caulfield Cup winner's run over 2000 metres, in which he led the $480,000 group 1 contest from the outset, only to be hauled in by Irish pair Azamour and Ace 300 metres from the line.
Elvstroem finished fourth on his British debut at the Lockinge Stakes last month when the field was blown away by record-breaking Rakti, so Vasil entered the Prince of Wales's Stakes yesterday rather than the Queen Anne Stakes a day earlier to dodge the six-year-old.
