News Story   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Prince was earning a salary of $41,000 per year when council redefined her duties as “remaining at home.” The suit seeks unpaid wages, triple unpaid wages in compensatory damages, court costs, reasonable attorney fees and actual, incidental and consequential damages including back and front pay, in an amount to be determined by a jury.
The suit claims after Prince was discharged from her position, council discriminated against her by redefining her duties to “remain at home,” and stripped her of all duties associated with her position, for the remainder of her contract.
It says Prince was able to perform all of the essential functions of her job and did perform those duties in a satisfactory to excellent manner.

PRINCE OF THE CITY, despite earning its share of awards in 1981, is one of the more obscure titles in Lumet's biography.
This class dimension of the conflict, probably as relevant now as it was twenty years ago, is another reason why PRINCE OF THE CITY should be viewed as better film than SERPICO, which ignored class differences for the sake of generational conflict fashionable in 1960s and early 1970s, but hardly relevant now.
