Victoria Eugenie was born on October 24, 1887 at Balmoral Castle, Scotland.
Her father was Prince Henry of Battenberg, the fourth child and second son of Prince Alexander of Hesse and by Rhine and Julia von Hauke.
Her mother was Princess Beatrice, the fifth daughter and the youngest child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.
