Bachelor of Laws - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The degree of Bachelor of Laws is the principal academic degree in law in most common law countries other than the United States, where it has been replaced by the Juris Doctor degree.
The term "qualifying law degree" refers to a degree from a university or college that is accredited by the relevant bar or law society and in which a passing grade has been achieved in designated core modules of the degree.
At Oxford and Cambridge, the principal law degree is a B.A., in Jurisprudence and Law respectively; the B.C.L. and LL.B. (recently renamed LL.M.) are postgraduate degrees.

Principal Characteristics of Chilean Bankruptcy Law spchbr1.htm
The bankruptcy law in Chile is published in law number 18,175 of the Commercial Code (the "Bankruptcy Law") which was made effective in 1982 and which nullified the prior law number 4,558 enacted in 1931.
The common law system present in Anglo-Saxon countries creates bankruptcy as the end result of a critical state of insolvency which is delineated in special bankruptcy laws which apply upon the request of petitioning creditors or debtors.
This provision originates from laws enacted in the Middle Ages in Spain during the reign of King Alfonso X, which was incorporated into Chilean law as a result of the Spanish colonization of Latin America.

Regia Anglorum - The Law in Anglo-Saxon England
The Christian influence to which the law was exposed from the sixth century onwards caused a few changes, especially with regard to family law, but the basic structure remained unchanged.
Codes of law were produced at regular intervals by kings, and the issue of a new code was an opportunity to add new statutes, modify existing ones, or re-state old laws that were being ignored.
Copies of the laws were then made and sent out to the ealdormen, bishops, and reeves who would be responsible for their administration.

You ask whether the secretary-treasurer of a fire district would have a conflict of interest if he or she were to purchase bonds to be issued by the district.
The treasurer is also required to issue checks for the payment of principal and interest on obligations issued by the district, without prior audit by the board of fire commissioners (see Town Law, §§176[4-a], 177).
Therefore, we believe that neither the function of executing a duly authorized bond, nor the function of issuing a check for the payment of principal and interest on such a bond, constitutes a power or duty within the scope of section 801.

 The Kentucky Post
The divisive issue of who should hire school principals likely will be hashed out again next year as school superintendents look for legislation to clear up their role.
The hiring of school principals has long been a sore point for some superintendents who complain they can't directly hire a school's top administrator, but they are held accountable for that person's performance.
But in a subsequent sentence, the law says "superintendents shall provide additional applicants upon request when qualified applicants are available." That sentence left the judges to interpret not only the meaning of "qualified" but also the intent of the law.

 CRS Report: - - NLE
The principal law governing pollution of the nations surface waters is the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, or Clean Water Act.
Certain responsibilities are delegated to the states, and this Act, like other environmental laws, embodies a philosophy of federal-state partnership in which the federal government sets the agenda and standards for pollution abatement, while states carry out day-to-day activities of implementation and enforcement.
While the CWA addresses federal enforcement, the majority of actions taken to enforce the law are undertaken by states, both because states issue the majority of permits to dischargers and because the federal government lacks the resources for day-to-day monitoring and enforcement.
