Local secondary schools are Admiral Lord Nelson School, City of Portsmouth Girls' School, King Richard Secondary School, Mayfield School, Milton Cross School, Priory School, Springfield School, St Edmund's RC School, St Luke's CofE VA Secondary School and The City of Portsmouth Boys' School.
Portsmouth's regeneration is being continued in the city centre with the demolition of the Tricorn Centre, a long abandoned shopping mall and car park, described as a "concrete monstrosity".

The shell of the boys school was left standing for nearly 20 years except for a classroom on each floor which was used by the girls' school.
The remains of the boys school was demolished in the late 1950s and a two story gym block was built and was available for use in 1963.

Baldacchinos are unlikely to be built in new spaces for reasons of handicap acccess, by the way.
Hence the trend towards coronas and the like (which predate the reform -- the spectacular aerial sculpture at the Portsmouth Priory School in Portsmouth Rhode Island comes to mind as an example from just before the council -- you know those Liturgical Movement Benedictines....) in their stead.
I should add that, as an acoustic matter, I find I vastly prefer the arrangment in such musically solid (even renowned) places as St. Paul's in Cambridge, MA (and elsewhere) where the choir inhabits the corner of a somwhat shallow transept, which seems to produce a more consistent and better result than from the loft.
