By the time the album was released, though, Vallance had disassociated himself with the band due to creative and business differences between them.
Apparently two of his songs appeared on their second album without his permission but he had reconciled himself with them by the third lp and went on to write more songs for them over the years with his then-new songwriting partner, Bryan Adams.
Small had his own vision of where Prism should be headed and it didn't mesh with the rest of the band; within months of recording their 1981 album, 'Small Change', band members were leaving in droves.

Evolving Artist - Prism Theory - In the Wake of a Dream
Prism Theory is a hard-metal rock band formed in 2001 that hails from the seemingly new-on the-music-map Akron, Ohio.
This album never suffers from a third act lull, which is suprising considering the genre and amount of material on this album.
Prism Theory is a rock band of choice, not submission, and they deserve to be heard over what the radio stations let you hear.

 PRISMREISSUE
This is the second PRISM album released on Renaissance Records.
Included are B-sides, alternate mixes of PRISM songs of the albums 'Small change' and 'Beat street', unreleased tracks from same album sessions as well as a couple of tracks from their older albums 'See forever eyes', 'Armageddon' and 'Young and restless'.
This PRISM song has the same sound and structure, but was never officially released until now and therefore didn't become the big success PRISM had deserved.

The album was not released initially in the U.S., although "Hiding from Love" (written by Adams and folksinger Eric Kagna) was issued as a single and reached number 43 in the dance chart.
Meanwhile, although he was still putting the finishing touches on his album, he had committed to begin a concert tour in support of it, and on June 8, 1991, he had gone back on the road in Europe co-headlining with ZZ Top.
On this album, Adams changed gears, abandoning Lange in favor of several songwriting collaborators, the most prominent of whom was Gretchen Peters, and completely eschewing ballads in an attempt to reestablish himself as a rocker.

Sure there was the comeback album with the new members, but it didn't work, and the guys have since stuck to the classic rock circuit and have found a niche there.
Prism remains to this day the little engine that nearly made it to the top of the mountain.
Young and Restless felt like a transition album, it didn’t have much of the old Prism sound, and in terms of new direction, it wasn’t clear where the band was hoping to go musically.

The music, just as heralded as the album is rare, is an oddball head on collision of the Chantays, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Lee Hazlewood and Ennio Morricone & the Electric Prunes all rolled up into one gigantic head rush.
Listing individual tracks is almost senseless as the album was conceived as one long piece of continuous music, but selections like "I Don't Know," "Dancing Doris," "Shapes of Sleep" and the closing "The Raven" have a hypnotic pull all their own.

Prism's debut release automatically struck a chord with Canadians, netting a number 23 hit in that country with "Spaceship Superstar," thanks to the bright, animated keyboard playing of John Hall.
The album sold relatively well in Canada, but went rather unnoticed throughout the U.S. or the rest of the world.
Tabak's singing is worthy of hearing, giving the album's filler a wee bit of promise, and is enough of an indication that Prism wasn't just another makeshift project, especially with Bruce Fairbairn as the band's producer.

The album begins with the bluegrass band, CONTRABAND, delivering its rousing rendition of that music style's current warhorse "Fox on the Run" (which succeeded "Country Roads" as the new bluegrass anthem a couple of years ago.)
