  Procaine
Procaine hydrochloride is a local anesthetic used primarily in dentistry.
Procaine, an ester anesthetic, is metabolized in the plasma by the enzyme pseudocholinesterase through hydrolysis into para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), which is then excreted by the kidneys into the urine.
A controversial topic is the use of procaine together with hematoporphyrin in the anti-aging preparation Gerovital H3.

 PROCAINE
Procaine is metabolized in the plasma by the enzyme pseudocholinesterase, an enzyme involved in the breakdown of acetylcholine, it is similar to acetylcholinesterase.
Procaine undergoes hydrolysis (the splitting of a compound into fragments by the addition of water, the hydroxyl group being incorporated in one fragment and the hydrogen atom in the other) and breaks into para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), which is excreted unchanged in the urine, and diethylamino alcohol, which undergoes further transformation prior to excretion.
Procaine is thought to reduce the effects of sulfonamide antibiotics.

Despite a similarity of name procaine hcl has no connection whatsoever with cocaine, indeed Einhorn could have settled for any one of a number of titles when he was casting around for a name.
Basically it was a problem of stabilisation, procaine rapidly hydrolysed in the body and remained active for a comparatively short time.
Working with her colleagues Dr. Aslan added potassium metabisulphite and disodium phosphate to the procaine which had the desired effect of sustaining it within the body for between 6 and 9 hours.

 GH3: Procaine Hydrochloride
Procaine Hydrochloride, the active ingredient of GH3, was first synthesised in 1905, by biochemist Dr Alfred Einhorn as a local anaesthetic.
Procaine hydrochloride, the main active ingredient of GH3, is created by combining two, water soluble B-vitamins: para-amino benzoic acid (PABA) and diethylaminoethanol (DEAE).
This reputedly protects the procaine from premature hydrolysis, by raising the pH level to a mildly acidic 3.3.8 Inclusion of organic acids enables the procaine molecule to cross cell membranes,9 which it cannot otherwise do.

Professor Ana Aslan developed procaine for anti-aging (Also known as Gerovital GH3.
The name "procaine" was simply a label Einhorn hung on his work as a means of distinguishing it.
GH3 was therefore procaine (the "active ingredient") buffered and stabilized by the addition of Benzoic acid as a preservative and potassium metabisulphite as an antioxidant.
Whereas straight procaine has a pH factor of 7, GH3 has one of 3.3 which makes it an acidulous balance ensuring the prolonged stabilization which is so crucial to its efficacy and also eliminating the anesthetic qualities (which are not wanted anyway).

Procaine HCL when injected into the muscles acts as an anesthetic but when taken orally in a complexed form, procaine acts as a Vitamin.
Procaine is usually used in the form of the hydrochloride salt -procaine hcl- because it is highly water soluble.
Procaine Based Nutriments (PBNs) as I prefer to call the procaine hcl complexes or GH3 factor must be formed or the product won’t be very effective in helping cells heal and overcome their problems.

KH3 is procaine at one half the dose of Gerovital (50mg vs. 100mg), stabilized with a tiny amount of hematoporphyrin (HP).
The stability issue derives in part from the fact that under some conditions procaine hydrolyzes in solution into diethylaminoethanol (DEAE), which is a close cousin of DMAE and the B vitamin para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA).
Those persons with a known or suspected allergy to procaine should obviously avoid use, and persons with cortisol deficiency problems, or who are using medically prescribed cortisol or prednisone therapy- should only use Gerovital under medical care.

 Anti-Aging Therapies
They made an exhaustive chemical study of Aslan's drug; one additive, in particular, benzoic acid (which was present in Aslan's drug but not in the US and British procaine) could be shown to markedly improve the adsorption of procaine by fats (one of which was butanoic acid), and by implication within the human body.
They used several different means to score psychological improvement, and their study was far more thorough than the US and British studies which had turned thumbs down on procaine; a total of 49 percent of subjects given EP showed improvement, compared to 19 percent improvement for those given either AP or saline solution.
Procaine is well known as a local anesthetic; the biggest problem with procaine is the possibility of allergy.

Action of Histamine on Procaine Nerve Block
reported certain observations on the action of histamine on nerve block caused by procaine and pyribenzamine.
Bárány and Nordquist found that, using the gastrocnemius muscle as an index of conduction in the frog sciatic nerve, histamine antagonized the local anæsthetic action of procaine and pyribenzamine.
But it must be remarked that the concentration of histamine used, 0.4–0.6 per cent histamine dihydrochloride, was very large and unlikely to be encountered under physiological conditions.

GH3: Procaine Hydrochloride by Conrad S Myers, Ph.D.
Procaine Hydrochloride, the active ingredient of GH3, was first synthesised in 1905.
Users of Procaine Hydrochloride reported beneficial side effects and numerous papers appeared suggesting it could help people suffering from a range of ailments.
She discovered that Procaine Hydrochloride degraded in the body within an hour, but buffering it with a number of stabilising agents removed its anaesthetic properties and allowed it to remain stable for at least six hours.
