	Proceedings - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		In academia, proceedings are the collection of academic papers that are published in the context of an academic conference.
		In some cases, the set of contributions is so coherent and high-quality, that the editors of the proceedings may decide to further develop the proceedings into a textbook (this may even be a goal at the outset of the conference).
		Proceedings are published in-house, by the organising institution of the conference, or via an academic publisher.

	Value of the Proceedings as a Historical Source
		To determine the precise legal charge under which a defendant was tried, and the relevant statute criminalizing their actions, it is sometimes necessary to view the original parchment indictment located among the sessions rolls held at the Corporation of London Record Office and the London Metropolitan Archives.
		He also claimed that the Proceedings failed to report that during the trial he had accused one of the prosecution witnesses of perjury, had claimed the whole prosecution had been caused by the "uncommon malice and villainy of Mr W---", and had appealed to the "improbability" of his committing the offence.
		While readers of the Proceedings would have been aware that Broderick rested his defence on his own good character and the "vile character" of his accusers, and on his allegation that the prosecution was malicious, they did not get to see much of the evidence he presented in support of these arguments.
